It's a good one... though where I grew up friends were friends but "buddies" were more. You didn't need to say f-buddy, it was just understood.

Blah. Doctors are doctors. They're like auto mechanics. Doesn't matter their sex or sexuality. Be up front, tell them what's up and DO NOT BE SHY or you're hurting yourself.

Never had anything to be shy about. I go in for things like "I hit my head," not "my enthusiastic friend might have broken my......"

My parents are doctors so every-once-in-a-while when I was younger, I'd hear horror stories. Nothing too personal, because of privacy issues and whatnot. But freaky, nonetheless.

When you've got a pregnant female Navy doctor telling you to drop trow to check for hernias, you get over it. :P

I think buddy is a touch less elegant than saying, "This amazingly stunning creature is my.... umm, friend," and following the statement with an ambiguous smile.

Of course, I'm talking about introducing the buddy to people you know.

Because some umm...friends will never be more than umm...friends, and I'd hate to have my acquaintances make assumptions about either the lady's character or my own.

Acquaintances should feel free to guess, however.

Rule 73 in The Sheikh's Guide to Morals and Dogma.
