All new players are welcome. If this gets as big as most think it will, our current group of players is not equipped to handle it. However, you won't be handed anything. I was lucky. When I was a newb I was given a golden ticket right into the middle of this (see THE LIST). But I also didn't sit back and expect to be given any responsibility right away. Do the work, put in the time, and you will be a major player in this. We need the eyes, we need the knowledge, and if the drops leave our little corner of the USA we are gonna need people willing to go out at 2am to an unlit park to get those small white envelopes :)

Just don't do what has been done. Many of the newbs that have come in since CANON DAY (national holiday status pending) have been rude, obnoxious, and have treated this as a joke. Showing up in the chat is exciting, but pace yourself. We have devoted countless hours and sacrificed personal time and energy to this. Treat it with respect, and you too can join in our naked booze parties in between clues ;)

And for those who are upset that it wasn't announced from day 1 that this was canon, thats because it probably wasn't. And besides that, what fun would it be if they just came out and attached to the first OpAphid vid: "This video will soon turn into a game that will eventually involve Bree, Daniel, Lucy, etc. So pay attention now." That's not the point of an ARG. No ARG that I know of ever says its a game, because THIS IS NOT A GAME!!! They give clues, if you notice them and they interest you then you follow, and if it pans out you are rewarded with an unique experience. If not, it doesn't mean that you can't enjoy LG15. I cannot see anything in OpAphid being required to follow Bree, it just adds to the experience.

If you want in, Romance has done one hell of a job recaping everything so far. Read her stuff, you will know what we know. If you have questions ask. Hell, sent me a private msg on the forums I'll answer quesitons. Come in, do the work, have fun. Some ppl on the chats are not the most friendly at times, but the majority of us will welcome you.

Sorry for the tirade

Thanks so much for your permission. As we solved CiW puzzles until she got stupid, don't think any of us would dream of asking to be handed anything. Thanks.

Fine, I take it back. I apologize for trying to let you see how the current players feel about it. I apologize for trying to welcome you in. You'll go far with your current attitude, and make tons of friends. Congrats.

And iamcool, seems someone did read it.

 ^what he said^

People, feel free to send me messages as well. I dont mind answering questions as long as you have made an effort to catch up.

And ladron, I don't see anything wrong with this post. dont apologize. I think you summed it up for most of the people who have put countless hours (and in my case days upon days without sleep) trying to solve this. You weren't rude, and you expressed your opinion. You have that right, after all.

I don't see how this would make any difference. Newbie friendly missions will only be super super super easy for the regular people, and they will get the clues and drops the first, effectively giving newbies no chance in any real participation.

So, what is expected of the hardcore players, Twjaniak? Should we slow down to give newbies a chance? Or should we continue at the pace we've been progressing lately?

i think we should be able to continue at the pace we have been. New people havent had a problem jumping in before.

Personally I think what he's saying is that the next installment won't really have a tremendous focus on knowing the complete backstory to get anywhere. I can't imagine it'd hurt. Though at this point, it's all conjecture, so can we chill out until we see how it plays out? I doubt they mean it's going to be a "gimme" for more experienced players.
