1986-present day
Nancy Drew #1-56 printed from 1986 to the present are glossy yellow spine hardcovers. Because the books have a flashlight symbol on the front cover, back cover, and spine, they are often referred to as the 'flashlight editions.' The endpapers are blank. These books do not have dust jackets. All of the books have six plain paper illustrations.
I know this isn't one of the books, but I think these are the editions we need to look at...

theres no point in compairing the spins of books. there are thousands of versions of the covers printed world wide. Paper backs, hardcovers, jacked, without jacket...
it depends on the edition that they are.
I'm guessing we may be looking for teh most recent edition to date. But thats my guess.

forgive me if you codecrackers have already noted this, but imparfaite at anchor cove noted that the haiku is actually wrong:
imparfaite at anchor cove wrote:
Need I point out that the haiku is WRONG. It's not a haiku. Haikus follow a strict set of syllable rules. 3 lines, the first and last containing 5 syllables and the middle line containing 7. Tachyon doesn't know her poetry and literary terms. Shame.
The haiku reads:
Where it all started
The answer is before you
A subtle clue I Drew
"A subtle clue I Drew" has 6 syllables.

The ones pictured above are printed from 1986 to the present day...
The reason I think we need to focus on those is because of the yellow stripe across the front of the cover that is also present in Daniels editions as well as the insignia on the spine at the top, which matches up with Daniels editions as well...

amazing what sleep will do...
Unfortunately, my editions are from earlier printings (ick-I just aged myself)...

Yeah-- though I'm know for certain there was a really similar looking edition that printed up to 79 from Wanderer, and a third that was also similar looking from Aladdin for 164-175, so we shouldn't rule those out.
Edit: actually, book 63 has the same logo on the yellow band, so it seems publishing was extended up to 79 for that particular yellow spine addition (after 79 is something called "Nancy Drew Files" or some crazy crap like that).

And guys PLEASE don't forget the passwords are XTREMLY CASE SENSITIVE!
On a previous puzzle we tried warpylol but the password was WarPylol. Make sure you cap what needs to be, and try every combination.

It seems like theres less to go on than the other drop-puzzles I've seen before/looked through tonight.
It seems a lot more vague, with fewer specific things to analyze... but maybe that's because I'm actually participating this time.
Although, looking back at some of those, I still have no idea how you guys got from "take warning" to "GPS."

I think GPS was a tag on a vid.
But you are right. We don't have much to go. A few books, and a card. Daniel is
NO ladron.

Has anyone tried Daniel's ID # plus Ned (Nancy's boyfriend's name)?
