Just to be a pain...I met my wife of 6 years on the internet.Flautapantera wrote:But you know what they say about internet romance. Doesn't work out. Because where's the connection? Sure, you see the pictures and read the pretty words, but it lacks that emotional connective tissue necessary in lasting relationships.

Awesome! (And you aren't a pain ) I should add a disclaimer that I don't have sources for my statistics. It's more of an opinion and a compilation of relationship stories I've heard go flat.beavinator wrote:Just to be a pain...I met my wife of 6 years on the internet.Flautapantera wrote:But you know what they say about internet romance. Sorry. Didn't mean to disavow all internet relationships!

Oh I wasn't taking offense or anything, merely stating my exerience. I expect my situation IS probably fairly rare. I was just pointing out that it's not unheard of.Flautapantera wrote:Sorry. Didn't mean to disavow all internet relationships!

Meh.
<---obviously doesn't know what she's talking about when it comes to the few people responding
Well, I'm glad it worked out for one of you. I'm sorry it didn't for you, quikstrike (for other reasons).
Soooo to change the subject:

Are you kidding? I LURVE Garfield! That's practically the only cartoon that I still read in the newspapers...except for Foxtrot (and sometimes Dilbert).beavinator wrote:Holy crap! So I'm NOT the only one who still thinks Garfield is funny...

I routinely get purged from LJ.
I was englishpigdog.
Then I was lulz_anarchy
Then I was gay_marxist.
Then I was not_nevinzehr
Now I'm notnotnevinzehr
There's not currently anything going on at my LJ now. I just use it for the commenting. But I used to obsessive-compulsively update - like an average of 6 times a day.

Yeah I read Dilbert too, and Peanuts of course. Other than that all the comics I read are webcomics. That's quite a long list. And most non-syndicated cartoonists spend a fair portion of time badmouthing Garfield, but I've loved it since I was a kid, and I think it's still pretty good. My wife's originally from the town where Jim Davis lives, East Moline IL.Flautapantera wrote:Are you kidding? I LURVE Garfield! I never really liked Garfield until I discovered the true zenlike brilliance of them: take out any dialogue from Garfield. They become funnier and wonderful. See some examples (including the one FP posted):

I never realized how "zenlike" they are...wow. I just enjoyed them because they were often funny and about a cat (mmm, and lasagna!). What's more to love?

I had seen that before, and I love it! Now whenever I read Garfield, I read it without his dialogue. Soooo much better! Heh...lasagna!Flautapantera wrote:Wow, you found the website I stole those from. Sneaky, sneaky.

Unfortunately, if you try taking away Dilbert's dialogue, his comics aren't nearly as good.
