Mystery solved! I found the original painting that the chalice comes from. It's by Sebastiano Conca, an Italian painter. It was done in 1746. It is called "Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane". As I suspected, it portrays Christ being visited by an angel prior to his arrest and crucifixion, right after the last supper.

It is a perfect match. The blue coloration must have been a manipulation, because the original version is pale-skinned.

What remains to be seen is whether this means anything to the overall story, or how it fits together with Frank's painting, the cup in the poem, the "garden", etc.

Now, I wonder why Cassie chose that particular painting of the scene among the hundreds of others.

The painting was done in 1746, exactly 260 years ago.

Does that number or that year hold any significance?

1746 was the year Catharine de Ricci (known for her stigmata and engaging in extreme fasting and other forms of self punishment) was canonized.

It is also the year of birth for Robert R. Livingstone, signer of the Declaration of Independance, United State's first Secretary of Foreign Affairs, known Freemason and the first grand master of the Grand Lodge of New York.

College of New Jersey (later Princeton University) is founded.

I don't know if this is relevent but I was thinking that since we've found out that the original picture that this comes from was made to be blue for us to see, is it a reference to one of the Hindu gods Lord Vishnu or Lord Krishna? I just know that's what I thought of when I very first saw this pic, and now finding out it was altered.. could mean something, eh?

EDIT- Okay.. looking further, I've found out that Krishna is another form of Vishnu.. here's a link on Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vishnu

again, I don't know if this means a damn thing. I don't know anything about this religion.. maybe someone else does..

im pretty sure each picture corrosponds with one of the poems. once we figure out which one goes with witch im sure they will help us solve the meaning of the poems. crazy? but it kind of makes sense. think about it...im working on figureing out which goes with witch as we speak.
