Have you read his non-fiction? I'd suggest them if you haven't.

i'm a sucker for classical music.
and find it harder and harder to find people who feel the same.
one of my favorite pieces is mozart's requiem....
And The Magic Flute...

Actually, the Requiem rests on top of my copy of Mateo Flecha's Las Ensaladas.

And no one's mentioned Offenbach or Korngold...

Amazingly, I get cast for chorus parts in musicals. I can stay on key, at least, lol.

I've yet to see that one. Right now I've got an interesting production of Le Nozze di Figaro from Netflix at home, and I purchased the Karajian DVD of Don Giovanni with Sam Ramey in the title role, but as far as exposure to opera I haven't much. I was a chorus member/dancer/rehearsal conductor on a high school production of Amahl and the Night Visitors, and I listen to Gershwin's Porgy and Bess religiously, but other than that I'm still working on it. ;)

Anyone for victorian gothic? Wilkie Collins is one of my faves, the Moonstone and the Woman in White. Creepy, ghosty, suspenseful, and opium-inspired.

OMG!!! I always wanted to play bass flute, but the director just didn't see my argument about how awesome it was! *very envious indeed*
