I agree with Annika here. Scientists have made autocatalytic cycles in the lab on many occasions - that doesn't mean that we're anywhere close to creating life from molecular building blocks. Hell, we're not even close to creating single-cellular life, let alone a human.hella wrote:they catalyze their own synthesis...they replicate themselves...come on!Annika wrote:How they go from "they catalyze their own synthesis" to "they somehow make life" is beyond me.

I agree. We're not yet ready to create life. How about extend life. Someone earlier was talking about that possibility.

THEY CATALYZE THEIR OWN SYNTHESIS= THEY MAKE LIFE (somehow)TOSG wrote:I agree with Annika here. Because repeating it in capitals makes it true.hella wrote:THEY CATALYZE THEIR OWN SYNTHESIS= THEY MAKE LIFE (somehow)TOSG wrote:I agree with Annika here. Re: "They somehow make life"
its just i dont know how to make it any clearer...self replicators replicate a buncha times and evolve into more complex self replicators and eventually turn into self replicating gene machines and THEY CATALYZE THEIR OWN SYNTHESIS = THEY MAKE LIFE (somehow)TOSG wrote:Because repeating it in capitals makes it true.hella wrote:THEY CATALYZE THEIR OWN SYNTHESIS= THEY MAKE LIFE (somehow)TOSG wrote: I agree with Annika here. Sure, if you have a spare billion years to wait. Three billion if you want them to turn into anything more exciting than a single cell.hella wrote:its just i dont know how to make it any clearer...self replicators replicate a buncha times and evolve into more complex self replicators and eventually turn into self replicating gene machines and THEY CATALYZE THEIR OWN SYNTHESIS = THEY MAKE LIFE (somehow)TOSG wrote:Because repeating it in capitals makes it true.hella wrote: THEY CATALYZE THEIR OWN SYNTHESIS= THEY MAKE LIFE (somehow)

Slightly off-topic, but after reading this, I immediately thought of Y: The Last Man (what with the forum heavily interested into links between LG15 and Brian K. Vaughn). On-topic, this ties back into the birth scenario that has been discussed since the days of the fake Ceremony, but certainly with a new twist. This might mean, though, that Bree is no longer "the One", but the Order might still consider her to be a high-ranking Order member (eventually) because she "gives birth" to a new prophet. Like the Virgin Mary .xwestsidex wrote:heres what I think...
I think they are doing experiments to try and create an asexual human being. For example, in order to have a baby, you dont need to have sex. AKA "women wont need men"
And also, havent you noticed that all the main order members so far (Brees mom, Lucy, Alex, Oppy) have all been FEMALE. And Im thinking that any baby thats going to be created by ribozymes would be female as well..
In other words, I think the order is just some dirty feminist organization thats trying to make the male race extinct on the earth....
(and if anyones wondering. I think the watchers are just in it for the money lol)

There have been other cermonies before this one, so I am not too sure on them creating their own customizable Crowley.
Personally, I'm with the whole key for immortality thing personally.
But here's a random ass thought:
What if Crowley is not the original Crowley? Let me explain this whacked out theory.
I remember Bree saying that the cermonies come around once in a very long time. Maybe Crowley was the result of an older HoO cermony, and he was a reincarnated whoever-the-f**k came berofe him. This has been happening for a long time. Every time this guy dies, they wait around for a positive trait, and pop out a new one. Crowley was the last one, now they have a new girl, and they want their leader or prophet or whatever back.
So, the cermonies happen every once in a long while. They wait for the guy to die, find a new girl, and then make themselves a new one.
(Today has been really boring, hence all the crazy thinking)

I like music, a lot. And yea, that's it.
Oh ****, forgot about beer.
And I listened to that song, and it sucked. No offense.

I have been thinking the same thing for a while. I couldn't put it into word, but you did awesome at it!!Spades wrote:There have been other cermonies before this one, so I am not too sure on them creating their own customizable Crowley.

But here's the catch.
How the hell was the Order supposed to find a trait positive girl if this has been going on for, for argument's sake, idk, a century or two? They could not have the technology to do such a thing waaaay back in the day, unless there is a very basic way of doing it, which I highly doubt.
Unless they grabbed a girl, did a very, very basic form of creating life that did not include sexual intercourse, hoping that she had the correct rybozyme count. If they knew what ribozymes were then.
edit: and about anyone who might know who Crowley's parents were as an idea to shoot down this theory:
That information could have been falsified. If I had the money, I could say that my great-great-great grandparents spawned Crowley.

Re: "They somehow make life"
Making life from scratch would make sense if you were living in a place that didn't have any life (that of course is a contradictory hypothesis), but here on earth there is abundant life so the effort would be pointless.hella wrote:well if it were easy then it would have been done already...TOSG wrote:Sure, if you have a spare billion years to wait. Ribozymes in this context are interesting only because they might explain how life began here on earth.
