I met my wife via the BBS scene, back in the day (before the Internet came along and killed (or drastically changed, depending on who you talk to) that scene.

I met one of my first actual boyfriends on a BBS-like program (TSN/INN). I miss that whole era a lot.

I dated a woman that I met online for a while. Everything was great, but the thing about internet born relationships is that they tend to be long distance so you're starting out with a distinct disadvantage.

Should I be worried if my web server logs show a number of hits from US Military and old-style arpanet addresses? :?

I went out with a few girls that I met on a BBS back in the day. One, I stayed in touch with and was in a long-term relationship with her a few years later. I miss those days too. :)

I lost my virginity to a girl I met on a BBS I ran. She tied me to the bed with some of her dad's ties before she screwed my brains out. Great way to lose something like virginity..

Thanks guys

I just wanted to thank all of you that have wished us well. I may occasionally make a comment on the boards again from time to time. The climate has changed a bit lately.

I lost mine to my current wife, I was 21 at the time, what a loser am I :P

but I guess it's better then losing it at a rave to some e-ho that would've probably given me a STD anyway right? :)

I dont think you are a loser at all... actually I think thats kinda cute.

Uh-oh do I smell a how I lost my virginity thread? Dont think I will contribute to that one. It would make for an interesting story though.

I think online dating can be great for some people. I know a lot of people who have had very successful relationships with people they've met online. Its kinda cool that there is another outlet for the single folks.. instead of just goin to a bar or being set up on a blind date. :)

Not to turn this into an internet relationships thread, but...;)

During my BBS time my life changed dramatically. And the friends that I had in "real life" weren't there to support me/give me love at all. But the friends I had made online were. It really showed me just who my true friends were. :)

I had exactly the same experience. I met some great people online who got me through some really hard times. Unfortunately, after moving away for several years and coming back to the city, I don't see any of them. *sighs* I wish that BBS was still around...

Same here. :( We stayed in contact (there's a Yahoo group for us oldies) but nobody ever posts on there.

We're so weird. To hell with this newfangled WWW business, bring us back to the good ol' Prodigy/Compuserve days! :D

Well, I personally have some problems with that type of designation. First, why is it a ho if it's a female, but people don't even feel the need to comment on a person's sexual promiscuity if they're male? It's seen as "just being a guy" but for a female it takes a negative connotation.

Second, since when does sexual freedom indicate sexual irresponsibility? Sexual freedom and STDs don't necessarily go hand in hand. Just because you know your way around in bed doesn't mean you don't know how to use protection.
