Also, Virginia Heffernan posted this to her New York Times blog on September 12 - the same day as the "Big Reveal".

One week earlier (Sept. 5) Ms. Heffernan posted this:
Now, back to lg15. Of all the tips that came my way this week, these might interest you most:
1. From “Bree”:
Hi Virginia
Just going through my inbox right now…glad you emailed me here because my youtube inbox is about to explode! Still so great to hear from everyone, but I’ve got 1200 new emails…yikes!
It’s really crazy (and overwhelming!) that those types of people want to contact me. I’m not really interested in that sort of thing, but if you think it’s a good idea and it’s someone you trust, you can give them this email address.
— 2. From “Cassie,” presumably the character Bree mentions in the “Swimming!” video:
careful.
take nobody at face value.
there is more than one girl.
that’s just unconscious knowledge.
Luminous wrote:And to address the "Too many Cassies" issue. All the Cassies only demonstrate that there is tremendous interest in her. She's very popular. The Creators would be foolish not to capitalize on that.
This whole discussion may be better in the CiW section or something, but I don't know...I just feel like I haven't talked about CiW in so long, this is all really interesting again!
It's true, the Creators introduced a great dangling plotline. Maybe it was intentional (hard to imagine it wasn't leading to something), but I bet they're surprised at all the interest. I'd like to see more, though... frankly, all the Cassie-related things are getting a tad confusing/boring. Hard to keep them all straight.
Luminous wrote:Oh. the Helter Skelter one. Yeah. That was pretty creepy. Glad the creators didn't choose to go down that road.
So maybe the creators were more involved in CIW than they let on, (no one seems to know who the CIW game PM's were) and were using it to test the water and see what the audience would accept? Also a way of offering more mature material without compromising the LG15 family rating. (I'm sure both those points have been postulated before.)
It all seems pretty nebulous. I still think it is likely we will be seeing more of canon Cassie in the future, and possible there will be many elements from CIW integrated into her character.
Just my humble lurking newbie opinion
Yeah, you're getting the gist of it. It is all pretty nebulous, and no one really knows for sure, other than The Creators and CiW's PM's. There are those who claim to know more, but I'm not sure how seriously to take those claims... Many can be dismissed, but some can't be quite so easily... Then you have me...

Glad somebody is in Cassie's corner
From what I can surmise, she needs all the help she can get, poor lonely girl
You made a wise choice, Bree.
There's no place like home.

Which disputes The Creator's claims of no ties with CiW. I'll maintain my theory that LG15 was meant to be the ARG itself, and CiW was introduced when everyone concentrated on lifting the curtain instead of playing the game.

I think it's important that some of the discussion stay in the normal parts of the board, simply so that newer users will have more of a chance to see it.

I would put serious money on my own theory that there is someone (if not everyone) involved in CIW that is or was involved in LG15. I mean it..and I'm no gambler. I don't care what the creators or any of their employees/volunteers say... why would they tell us?
Also, I still can't believe people get so freaked out by the Tate murder scene thing. Maybe it wasn't the wisest or most ethical image to flash, but it's not as if you could really make anything out in it...even if you've seen it (blown up) on your own time, it's not really that graphic. I've seen similiar photos on crime shows on TV in the day time. In my opinion, it was used iconically (if that's a word).

The creators tell lies, and they should have realized that the sort of paranoids attracted to this entire experience would eventually figure that out. It's my belief that CiW was canon right off the bat, and so was OpAphid.
My interpretation of the plot is that Op is another created personality, whose increasing instability has caused the Order to begin the process of replacing her with Bree. When Bree's mom reported that Daniel had caused her to have doubts about going through with the "ceremony", the Order sicced Op on Bree and Daniel to try to salvage the situation. The Order operates on a need-to-know basis, so Op wouldn't have been told why Bree is so important to the Order, but in the course of observing and seeing the emergence of an alternate personality, she began to see parallels to her own existence. Suddenly, instead of seeing herself as an omnipowerful being, she's forced to begin admitting to herself that the odd dreams and disjointed memories she's been repressing for so long have a real meaning - that she's just a tool and not a real person at all. Her reaction at first is denial - five videos that all boil down to "Cassie tells lies", meaning that Cassie should be disregarded and ignored. Her attacks have the effect of driving Cassie back undercover for a while, but the seed has been planted and Op begins to disintegrate more rapidly. She starts to have episodes of fugue when other alters come to the surface and each pursues its own agenda. The Lady Lazarus, for instance, is a fragmented persona filled with anger and horror at what has been done to her, and makes videos trying to express her outrage at being driven to suicide, showing a mask with at least two people behind it (one brown eye, one blue eye). Tachyon may be the original personality, watching for years and slowly recovering from the trauma. She's the first to emerge under stress and begins to collect information and make contacts with others who are opposed to the Order. "I learned more in the last hour there than "I" did in her entire existence" This is why Tachyon has access to so much information and resources (she looks exactly like Op and knows all her secrets, passwords, etc.), while Op is only aware of Tach as an enemy and can't even begin to suspect that Tach is actually inside her mind. Tach encourages Op's delusions by claiming to be on the run, while in actual fact, she hasn't gone anywhere except to take a few drives to drop off information. There are other alters, each managing to gain control long enough to make one or two cryptic videos expressing whatever facet of existence is most important to herself. Op is in a state of virtual meltdown at this point, missing large pieces of time and unable to explain why, while still trying to do her job and convince herself that everything's normal.

I wonder if Bree's dad's name is Frank, then?
OMG. take that a step further.
The creators have PURPOSELY never let us know his FIRST name. What if he was hearing voices in his head? And what if Cassie was an imaginary friend of Bree's, BECAUSE she heard voices in her head too.
That would make Bree special to the creators, especially if dad and Bree are not blood related. And Cassie could be revealing things, talking to them because of something that the order did to her (kill her?)----

Oooh head is spinning
That would be awesome, but remember "frank's wife" or someone posted on his blog that frank was dead...unless that was just another voice.
Personally, I thought LG was getting annoyed with this frank ARG so they contacted them and told them to quit it.
What ever happened to that girl BA?
