LIBER XXXVI [36]
THE STAR SAPPHIRE.
Let the Adept be armed with his Magick Rood [and provided with his mystic rose].
In the centre, let him give the L.V.X. signs; or if he know them, if he will and dare do them, and can keep silent about them, the signs of N.O.X. being the signs of Puer, Vir, Puella, Mulier. Omit the sign. I.R.
Then let him advance to the East and make the Holy Hexagram, saying: Pater et Mater unus deus Ararita.
Let him go round to the South, make the Holy Hexagram and say: Mater et Filius unus deus Ararita.
Let him go round to the West, make the Holy Hexagram and say: Filius et Filia unus deus Ararita.
Let him go round to the North, make the Holy Hexagram and then say: Filia et Pater unus deus Ararita.
Let him then return to the Centre, and so to The Centre of All (making the Rosy Cross as he may know how) saying Ararita Ararita Ararita
(In this the Signs shall be those of Set Triumphant and of Baphomet. Also shall Set appear in the Circle. Let him drink of the Sacrament and let him communicate the same.)
Let him then repeat the signs of L.V.X. but not the signs of N.O.X.: for it is not he that shall arise in the Sign of Isis Rejoicing.

Zodiac of Denderah
Some claim it to be Decan stars and therefore it is one of the 36 characters around the circle of the Denderah zodiac....
The picture above is the ceiling view of the zodiac of Denderah (Egypt) which ... Since the Egyptians had a zodiac with 36 decans...

Hmmm. These lines seem to be tying into stuff from the cassie area.
Liber 36 references a sapphire, and a sapphire is referenced over in
http://www.lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewt ... 789#145789
The zodiac of Denderah has a festival coming up on 5.February, too. I discussed it a bit more over at

I dunno if this will be helpful at all, considering it bridges non-canon stuff with canon- just some quick thoughts on my lunch break.

I think Op is saying that Brother killing Gemma was a favor. She had become a liability once her position had been revealed. Sure Gemma didn't think Op was mad at her, but I'm guessing Op had no more use for her. Tachyon may have thought she was hindering Op, but I have a feeling she and brother were just playing into Oppy's hands. Not that Op wasn't glad for Gemma's earlier role, hence the "RIP"
And on a sidenote, HOORAY FOR OP!!!

i definately agree with that.
With gemma's position revealed, it leaves a huge liabilty on OpAphids side. It's dangerous for her. If Brother didn't do away with Gemma, Op would have.

Maimonides and Abraham ibn Ezra denied the existence of demons. Their philosophies became a part of the mainstream Jewish faith regarding the subject.
Perhaps this was the right approach. i.e. "To ignore evil is to deny it any power over you."
However, Charles Baudelaire suggested, "The finest trick of the devil is to persuade you that he does not exist."
What if he was indeed correct?
I wish I were about to say this, but wasn't this before CiW was ousted? I just wonder if that means nothing now since Cassie pretty much has no importance to the story

Unless Oppy has repeated something, I think it's just of the past. I may be wrong. I'm often wrong.

That's a phrase that is often used to justify morally "bad" behavior in order to bring about a morally "good" ending.
Robin Hood is a good example this... "Steal from the rich, give to the poor." Killing the bad guy in self-defense is another example.
It's a classic dramatic element, and makes for good stories. Some people refer to this type of behvaior as a
necessary evil.
BTW, this is the opposite to the idea of Karma and the Golden Rule.

From
Wikipedia:
1. Morally wrong actions are sometimes necessary to achieve morally right outcomes.
2. Actions can only be considered morally right or wrong by virtue of the morality of the outcome.
The article isn't so great, but it's worth a look-see.

God I am so tired.
I know a lot about this but I'm too tired to type it all. Plus it isn't like I need to. But I want to be helpful!
This is my field.

so oppy is basically saying...
killing bree's dad will bring us what we want.
thats what I think anyways.

Maybe...it's a bit confusing, since Gemma paid the price as well.
I think what we need to figure out is what Op's "end" desire is here...and how (or if) it conflicts with the other characters.
Like with the story of Star Wars...the "end" depends upon your point of view.

true enough...
maybe there are many actions that took place that justified the means....
the cameras
setting up gemma for death (i kind of feel like op set gemma up for brother to find right now)
and the murder of bree's dad...
hmm...
lots to think about, but it grows harder and harder to think about with so little answers.
