If the ID# is correct than that relates to "where it began" that covers Tachyon's note so the 3 letters must be connected to Nancy Drew.

Usually it won't do anything, it won't open, sometimes you'll get an error message. When it does work, the file will automatically open and there will be much rejoicing here!

FYI, this is what I get when the password is wrong.

CRC failed in the encrypted file (wrong password ?)

Along with the directory of the file...
