I would personally be fine with that.
While I understand you feeling that way, Loretta, they need to keep adding numbers to their viewership in order to get more advertisers and, hence, funding for these improvements.

Everyone is new at one point or another...it doesn't have to be a bad thing. :/

I don't have a major issue with the whole private transmission thing, I just don't like the idea, lol.

I dunno, maybe I'm the sort of person that doesn't like things to change (which I think I am, lol) I'm just afraid that having some videos that are intentionally made to seem private might make things sort of weird. I sort of like it when Bree's broadcasting to us, talking as if she's talking to the whole net, but I suppose she still will be?

Then again, maybe these private transmissions would allow us to see more into things that they wouldn't otherwise post because they're just not that stupid. More embarrassing or secretive things.

Now that I think about it, it might turn out to be a good thing, but I dunno. I'm on the fence until I actually see it, hehe.

Hell, if it sucks, this story isn't set in stone, lol. If it's bothersome and people aren't liking it I'm sure the Creatatrons will make accomodations. They seem to pay attention to a lot of what we say. For instance, I've noticed that youtube is starting to finally catch up with the story line. (Still a lot in between, but they're coming more frequently) So I'm assuming they pay attention to us, lol.

Anyway. We'll see. There are pros and cons to the whole matter. I don't really like the idea right now, but I'll probably come around.

I agree, Kelly. Some noobs, though, won't use the LGPedia, and continually ask (dare I say it) stupid questions. This can be wearing on some of the older viewers who know what is going on.

However, I think anyone who wants to enjoy LG15 should. It's not nice to be exclusionary.

Yeah.. there's a reason I have 33 posts but I've been here since January, lol. Everytime I want to ask something I say... stop. read first. And go get lost in the lgpedia, lol. Most everything you'd want to know is in there.

Some people do make it sort of scary to ask questions, which is another reason I do every scrap of research before asking or posting a lot, but most people are nice around here.

I will admit it's sort of confusing to new viewers, but what are you gonna do. I'd understand being irritated if I'd been on the forums longer.

longlostposter wrote:Gidd, why do you think they won't post to us? They've done it before, and they know we're out here,.
Oh they will post to us. I bet however we do not see a video out of a private tag from Bree for awhile. Daniel will probably be the first to post publicly saying that Bree doesn't want to post. But he will anyway. Then we will start seeing privates from Bree to Tachyon. What do we do now kind of videos. From there who knows.

I would equate it to Bram Stoker's Dracula (the novel). Where the entire story is told by journal entrys and correspondence.

And I'm not. I'm very welcoming to noobs. I have no problem with them at all.

But anyone who can't understand this concept probably would not be a great addition to the site. Especially if it is so hard for them that it would be enough to turn them off entirely.

I just really don't see what's so hard to understand.

PS - Sorry if I offended anyone. I inhaled way too much laundry detergent, plus, I'm cranky because of the absence of new videos this weekend. :?

And Loretta, I hope you weren't offended by what I said. If so, I apologize.

They've been doing the "third person filming" thing more often lately, like in "Flesh Wound" and such.
No offense Kelly but I HATE this idea.

I think giddean's comment is a reference to all the jerky footage we see when someone's holding the camera ("Vegas, Baby!" is a fine example).

In regards to the "Private Transmission" videos, I've been thinking of it more like a tv show. Say for example that Jonas posts a video saying that he found letters from his parent's to Bree's parent's, but he doesn't want her to know because he's in the order ( I know, I don't think this, but it's a good general secret that he could be hiding). He can post a video saying that he is uncertain about what is really going on but he does not know whether to go back to the order or stay with B&D and protect them. This, as a "Private Transmission" means that Oppy won't come and kidnap him for having ideas about betraying the order, Bree won't freak out and tie him up again, and tachyon won't come and open a can of whup ass on him for being in the order. It keeps them safe, and makes it more selective about who can see what.

You can release so much more information than a "everyone sees everything" stance on things. Most people are complaining about the abundance of plot holes... is Jonas in the order? How does Crowley feature into this? etc... by doing private transmissions, we can see inside each character's head and know things that we will never get the opportunity to know with the system we are operating on now. Also, we will not have the 2-3 videos of reactions (crying, screaming, sulking etc) every time a new piece of important info is released.

In a tv series following, for example, a relationship, we can see the female talking to her friends about her boyfriend, possibly even a voice over saying that she has hesitations about moving in and whatnot... her boyfriend does not see this. It's private. Then it cuts to the boyfriend telling his mum that he's going to propose. Because it's a tv show... the girlfriend doesn't know... she hasn't seen.

Yeah, that's how I think of it... it made sense in my head!
