why the fuck does everyone think the purity bond has to do with virginity?Luminous wrote:Alex is divorced. Highly unlikely she has an intact purity bond.Misty wrote:
I don't know wether Alex has her purity bond, or is young enough, but there's no reason to assume she doesn't.
I don't think Alex is pure at all. I don't think she gives a rats-ass about DBJ.Misty wrote:why the fuck does everyone think the purity bond has to do with virginity?Luminous wrote:Alex is divorced. Highly unlikely she has an intact purity bond.Misty wrote:

it makes perfect sense that the new girl is alex herself. She's doing it to save BD&J
Well, maybe the dictionary.Misty wrote:

Not everyone agrees with that definition. It's actually even insulting to a lot of people.giddeanx wrote:Well, maybe the dictionary.Misty wrote:

Well, when Bree snuck out her parents told her she HAD broken her purity bond, and she DIDN'T have sex. So obviously she did something else to break her purity bond. Maybe Alex never did that something else. Perhaps defying authorityLurker wrote:Not everyone agrees with that definition. Personally, I don't think it makes any sense to say someone is pure or impure based on virginity. It's not like sex taints the soul or turns one into a killer.
The only reason the idea probably even exists is because STDs have always existed and it didn't take a genius to figure out the connection between virgins and fewer STDs. And when you had so many people superstitious to begin with in the past and everything had to be either "tainted" or "pure" ... well, you get the idea.
In any case, no, that's not why anyone here thinks virginity might be related to the purity bond. OpAphid was concerned about Daniel getting physical with Bree - and Bree's parents went so far as to call something as irrelevant as Bree sneaking out to go to a party a possible violation of the purity bond. Those are the reasons why. Well, probably those and the persistence of the retarded notion that being a virgin means someone is pure.

Thats true maybe even being with a boy unescorted breaks the bond.Misty wrote:Well, when Bree snuck out her parents told her she HAD broken her purity bond, and she DIDN'T have sex. Yeah, you're right. Her parents said she had broken it. Maybe they were exaggerating, though. Why else would they have continued to want Bree if she were no longer pure?Misty wrote:Well, when Bree snuck out her parents told her she HAD broken her purity bond, and she DIDN'T have sex. I thought her parents said she "may have" broken her purity bond, or that they were worried she had.Lurker wrote:Yeah, you're right. Her parents said she had broken it. In any case, that's an interesting thought. The defiance of authority. But why then would OpAphid have been concerned about Daniel making a move on her?
Man, I hate Buffy and I managed to get that joke and think it was hilarious. Good job. >_<milowent wrote:perhaps the new girl will be bree's previously unknown sister named Dawn?
