It's fine. But they completely misinterpreted what I wrote in that email. But I think they understand that that's not the kind of person I am.

It is wrong. A lot of parents do things like that. I think some parents do those things when they know that they have not been communicating well with their children (or vise versa). They wake up one moment in a panic, and then do things that are a little nuts.
