People who knew how to sniff out a good ARG and were trying to find some played OpA.
The LG15 people were probably just trying to protect their goods. If OpA was accepted poorly but was a part of LG15 as canon from the very beginning, it could have destroyed LG15. But as it was separate, they were able to see if it would be well-recieved and when it was, incorperate it into the storyline. Obviously, they were looking out for their fans, making sure they only used what they were interested in.

Guys.. it's not like there isn't an AphidPedia to read. All the info is there, we already did all the hard work.
IMHO, OpAphid didn't start off as canon. The Creators saw how much those who followed love it (and CiW) and decided to intergrate it. What is so awful about that? Sure, you'll have an extra hour of reading to do if you choose to follow it. I'm sure you won't miss out on info if you choose not to follow it, it's still a somewhat seperate ARG.
You're not 20 steps behind, OpAphid offers a different view point on the LG15 saga.

Exactly. We're totally on the same page.
We've logged all of our work, we've DONE all of the work. We're the ones who slaved over it. All you have to do is read about it and do a little catch up.

It's frustrating to work on a puzzle for hours and hours and not be able to crack it. But we don't bitch out the creator of the puzzle (we might hate the puzzle.)
Complaining about it and being rude to the creators isn't going to magically make it non-canon. So, I'd either leave quietly or just catch up and be done with it.

Completely understandable. But it won't be too hard, we're all around to answer questions and help out in these initial stages of "the merge".
Trust us, it's fun! Even if you don't slave over anagrams or code for hours!

My complaints are complaints and they're also reasons why I need to go. It is my opinion that the fans we not treated in a way, I feel, we deserve. I think it's fair that I should be able to voice that. I see no change in sight, I'm not trying to make opaphid not cannon. It's already done. It sucks and the way it was done sucks. I don't EVER Leave anywhere quietly.
