"Yeah, he was pretty cool. He answered all the questions I had and stuff."

Autumn - [Looks to Cloud;] My what? [A confused expression spreads across her face] [To Jake;] Oh, and so you know, I'm not trying to scare you with all this stuff..I just hope knowing it sooner you won't make some of the dumb mistakes we made already.

Cloud - your helper

Jake - [Jake shrugs.]

"I appreciate your concern, then. I guess."

[Jake takes another bite out of his potato, nowhere near as hungry as he'd been when he had decided to come to the cafeteria.]

"I guess what I'm still wondering is... If it's so bad here, why don't you guys just leave?"

Autumn - [To Jake;] I have no where to go...My parents made me come here..It wasn't by choice. And besides, I'm still a minor.

"Being a minor is only a legal issue. You don't really have to listen to anybody... Besides, if these guys are as bad as you're saying they are, why wouldn't you just tell your parents?"

Autumn - They don't believe anything I say anymore after..[Her eyes fall to her wrist and she sighs hoping it wasn't obvious, she continues] They just don't believe me.

Jake - [His eyes follow her's as they momentarily dart downward... He has no idea what she's looking at, though, so he ignores it.]

"I guess you're kinda stuck, then."

[Jake reamins silent for a moment before elaborating.]

"It looks like you've got enough friends here, though. I'm sure they'll make sure nothing happens to you."

Autumn - [Sighs] They try. But they can't babysit me every two seconds, I mean, I gotta take care of myself too, you know?

Jake - [Jake nods. One of the few things he really understood was the basic need to defend one's self. He then sighs and drops his fork, using the hand instead to rub his temple. "This is crazy. I've been here less than a day, and I'm already hearing about summoning, magic classes, some cult that runs the school... For all I know, this is a joke they play on all the new guys here." He puts his hand down and returns his attention to Autumn.]

"Yeah, I get what you mean."
