So Bree was one of the "fraction of a percentile who develop the characteristics needed for the ceremony"- meaning she was extremely special to The Order.

This makes me think that maybe Daniel was somehow "chosen" as well. She was in such a controlled environment and had no other friends, yet Daniel was allowed in her house, and in her room with a closed door. I don't think her parents would allow that if he was not involved somehow.

Maybe they get locked in a dark room with a computer at an illuminati safehouse like "itscassie" :?: /.\
Ooooh! Yeah! Because they've lived their whole lives controlled and they wouldn't ft in in the real world. So the Orer keeps them? But why. :!: :?:

And to make another point, the other families could have been stricter. I think it's obvious now that Bree's dad was supposed to simply raise Bree for the ceremony, but he started to "care". Or else he wouldn't have spent so much extra time with her, taught her about science, had ambitions for her, watched spy movies with her (even when the "higher up" mother said no) and then eventually clue her in.

And on another note, Bree's parents (probably mainly her dad) allowed her to hang out with Daniel. While when Gemma (who was probably brought up for the ceremony too) started to like a boy who "didn't subscribe to their beliefs" she was forbidden to see him.

I would be too if my daughter wanted people to stalk her. :P

I wonder what happens to those other girls Bree was talking about.

They probably train them to be just another agent for the Order. Like Gemma.

I think Daniel is a bigger part of this than we think. He isn't just in this series because he's Brees friend and sometimes boyfriend. Otherwise he wouldn't have such a huge role

EDITED: To fix spelling and to make it easier to understand ^^;

True. So if they were treated like itscassie (I'm not claiming she's official or anything, but using her as an example) then anything that happened to her would be what Gemma went through? perhaps?

I agree Gemma was probably brought up for the ceremony. Maybe it depends on the girl, what happens to them. Like maybe Gemma found out and decided she still believed in the principles of The Order, but other girls (like cassie.. had to say it) get angry and upset about it and run away, or fight back and get captured, or something.

Thinking about the characteristics that make her eligible, what makes Bree different from Gemma? I can't imagine Gemma isn't "moldable" enough, after all.. look what she's done for the Order. Could it have to do with eyes?

Gemma has those creepy blue eyes. Bree's are just brown. And the Eye thing is a huge symbol. Then again, how would that change at puberty?

I don't know. :-k

He's not bree's boyfriend. They kissed once. Bree has no interest in him other than just as a friend. She doesn't even show interest in any of those things because of the way she was raised. It's Daniel who likes Bree.

Yeah, true. I wasn't really focusing on that, just putting in both options coz sometimes people refer to him in that way. I'm talking more about his relationship with the Order, per se :D

I think the girls who get angry and rebel actually know what's going on. I think the girls like Gemma, who comply, were just more thoroghly (sp?) brainwashed and are clueless, just going along with what the Order tells them.

I was just about to write something similar, but you beat me to it

Actually, it is quite common for eye color to change at puberty. Blue eyes become green, hazel, yellow and sometimes even brown.

Brown eyes become yellow or hazel, but never blue.

How do you think that might relate to the plot?
You made a wise choice, Bree.

Bree's aloneness has another chilling dimension. She alone is safe. The Order won't shoot her - they've got too much invested in her. But she must be realizing that if they can shoot Mr. Bree, they could also shoot down Daniel and Jonas just as easily.

Maybe puberty is different in the Order. Like, the time of puberty or the beginning of puberty means something different to them? Like, their decisions or something like that? Rather than the usual puberty we automatically think of? The puberty we know and love? :P Ok, maybe not the last part, but xP Perhaps the puberty they mean is the stage when a baby's eyes change colour? because aren't all babies eyes the same colour at birth and later on they change?
