I agree completely!Jamesyboy wrote:Phew!! if you had just given me a sideways hug I would have been having wordsJess4298 wrote:I'm not a fan of sideways hugs personally, but I come from a very "huggy" familyJamesyboy wrote:Don't think I've ever hugged anyone sideways!! Air kisses always stress me out too!!
Why do they stress you out? rather have real kisses?
And yes, real kisses are much better. If you're not going to even make contact with the other person's face then I can't see the point! For me it's like saying:
I feel I should greet you in some faux friendly way, but really I don't want to get anywhere near your face because I hate. I hate you. I hate you dammit!!
Ahem....
Maybe it's just me....
Aw! Well it's a cute "ew" face heeheekrig wrote:Thanks Marbella! I was on the beach in LA and I picked up this weird shell with some gross stuff on it. My friend took the pic just as I was squinching up my face to say "ewww"!Marbella wrote:Jess.. It was.. really funny!!!
I have shocked our commander and Sim, yet again!
Krig, you look so cute in that picture!
I missed you all today. I was running around a lot, doing stuff.
"You must cross your legs at the ankle at all times with knees tilted to one side. NEVER sit with ankles uncrossed or legs fully crossed."Marbella wrote:It's still cute though, Krig.
Southern belles get taught some weird things.. like proper ways for ladies to sit, etc.
The alternative to the "sideways hug," is the "not very close" hug. If the man tries to grab closely, pull back.
However, I greet many of my male friends with full, squeezy hugs. I love it. But, I trust them.
Quite agree Marbella, and it is certainly a way of life there. Similar to a handshake over here. But for close friends I'm just quite a tactile person and like the physical contact.Marbella wrote:I think the French and Italian tradition of kisssing each other (and even total strangers) on both cheeks is really pretty sweet.
It was a big odd moving from D.C. to here, but my mom was VERY old fashioned so a lot came from her before we even moved down here...krig wrote:Wow I missed out on all of this lady-education stuff being from the Northeast!
Excellent!! We're all agreed that proper hugs are the way forward!!Marbella wrote:Yes, exactly, Jess. It is considered proper to sit with your legs tightly together and your legs pulled up to one side. The alternative is to cross them. Anything else is improper!! (The ankle cross is okay only if the legs are completely together. I was told leg crossing was appropriate and very feminine--different cultures (slightly) I guess.)
...like I really do that now!!!!!
I love tight, warm, cuddly, squeezy hugs~and men are the best at giving them!
Yay for hugs!Jamesyboy wrote:Excellent!! We're all agreed that proper hugs are the way forward!!Marbella wrote:I love tight, warm, cuddly, squeezy hugs~and men are the best at giving them!
It's a deal!!krig wrote:Well, if we ever have our lg15 con we will all have to greet each other with big hugs!
