This debate about the "interactive" experiment has reminded me of a project by the artists Komar & Melemid where they took surveys of "The Most Wanted Painting" and the "Least Wanted Painting" in different countries and made a painting based on each result. You can see the results here.

to me, part of the fun is seeing how the same video makes different impressions on people. i like to hear all the different viewpoints. if i only wanted to look at these from my own experience and perspective, i wouldn't come on here. sometimes the comments make me see things i wouldn't have noticed, or make me laugh, or whatever. people choose to care about these as much or as little as they please. that should be ok, i think

Generally true, but when 80% of the posts are back and forth bitching about a video or such, there's no real discussion of the video itself! So then it gets very tough for anyone who wants to discus the video to wade through it...
Ok, although that exchange was very entertaining to read, here is what I am pondering on about the video--
Gemma says even the nicest people can turn into beasts,
and her flatmate left a trail of crumbs
Could this be some inside messages? I may just be grasping at straws, but these are exactly the sort of things that used to be nit-picked to death.

Well, why is back and forth "bitching" not part of discussion? That's BS, in my opinion. What about all the "YAY!!!" type posts? Those aren't discussion. As long as whatever you're talking about is relevant to this video, you should be allowed to put it here. It's not fair to try to banish all criticism and negative reactions to the "Concerns and Complaints" area.

Welcome to the world of roomies, Gemma. I was lucky enough to get a nice one first semester, but 90% of the population aren't that lucky.
Least mine don't eat my foods.

That is very interesting. What the hell happened to Holland and Italy? Weird.

In an attempt to get this thread to be about the actual video and what it means to the series...
I don't think we can just instantly assume that the creators have neglected to follow the story line. They want us to be in suspense about what has happened with Bree's parents. The fact that Gemma chose to make/post this video rather than to show genuine concern could mean that she is, in fact, "bad" and is still very much a part of the religion and knows what has happened. She may be trying to get us to not think so much about what really matters because she doesn't want her religion to look bad. I could be reading too much into this video, but I'd like to think that Gemma has some sort of a brain and catches on that she really should be much more concerned about Bree and not her roommates.

I was thinking that she could be talking about Lucy or that the reference could also relate to Lucy. Bree is always saying how nice Lucy is and I think that she could end up being really evil. The trail of crumbs could refer to a trail that Bree and Daniel have to follow to find her parents.

I am still holding on to the possiblity of a real mystery hunting pair with Daniel and Bree.
I really believe Gemma is trying to help, she is just not paying enough attention to things right now. (Like not seeing Bree's previous videos)

You see I think that there is something more to Gemma than meets the eye I have a feeling that she may have darker motives.

hmmm, I am going to put this out there and see what you guys think.
Could Gemma be talking in code for fear of being monitered by the order?
Gemma indicates that her flatmates are good to go out with but to live with they are nightmares.
Seems to me that she is trying to say people are not always what they seen, they can be nice on the surface but sometimes when you get to know them they can be something else entirely.
Just try to make something of a seemingly pointless video.
Thoughts?

But why did she warn Bree about the family that disappeared then? She seemed, up to this video, highly concerned for Bree's situation.
And Reb-your Avatar cracks me up.

If we think about Gemma as a person and not just as a character in a story, I guess it's easier to see both sides.
Yes, it's obnoxious that as her friend she did not show more concern for Bree. Obviously she missed a few friend classes. We've all known people who viewed things as "oh, your dog died? Well I stubbed my toe, and it's horrible!"
My point simply is, yes, she is obviously a bad friend for not showing enough concern if she has seen the videos.
But remember that she never said these vlogs were just for Bree. She said that Bree inspired her to start one. So her audience is not just Bree, but anyone who might come across her videos and want to know more about her life. Imagine how obnoxious it would be in the real world if someone started a vlog, and then proved that the only thing of interest in their life is to comment about someone else's life. Yes, there may be some out there like that, but are they intriguing?
If Gemma was a real person she would still vlog about her own life, since she wants to tell her story, and not just rehash someone else's. She could do that by joining the forums.
