Actually I was really disapointed to miss it, but I had to work early the next day. Is there any way to see it online?[/quote]It's on YouTube. Awakening from the slumber.
interesting to see how many folks here in this thread are not enthused about the idea of opaphid as canon. i feel the same. i'm just not a dungeons and dragons kind of guy. others love that kind of thing, that's cool, just not for me.
my guess is that opaphid is simply the official lg15 ARG, and that the storylines will not really intersect. meaning that you can watch lg15 videos without having to know anything about opaphid. but for those who love opaphid, maybe bree will drop a clue that is meaningful to the ARG world from time to time. or so i hope.

why is everyone upset?
Why are people upset or think it is inconsiderate how they brought in OpaPhid?
Fair is Fair!
Hey everyone, I mean everyone freaking out about this daunting OpAphid homework you all seem to dread, listen: OpAphid is fun! Yes it is!
Would you complain if Bree made a video explaining stuff about her religion? I doubt it! Well, this is what you might get from OpAphid... well, more likely Tachyon or her partner aka "Brother". Of course the info is a bit harder to get, it's not quite spelled out in the videos. There are drops to recover, clues to put together, puzzles to solve, codes to decode, even music, yes, popular music that you all hear everyday to analyze.
Too much work for you? Don't fret about it. Up to this moment this has all been done for you, you already have most of the stuff solved by those who do enjoy the hard but satisfying work of deciphering all that. And those players will keep on working out the clues and math and puzzles and songs, and they will always share the results of their work, because that's part of the satisfaction drawn from it.
So, if you don't feel up to it, just let the others do the hard work. But do follow along, as there are subtle character and plot development insights to draw from it all. But most importantly, remember how you always enjoy analyzing (and yes, overanalyzing too) everything about Bree's videos. This is no different. Who knows, maybe this is precisely the information or point of view that you've all been asking to hear from Bree, i.e. "Bree, why don't YOU tell us about YOUR community?"
Oh and don't be intimidated by the character/entity known as OpAphid. It may be the bad guy in this story (or maybe not, you decide), but it/she has a sharp wit and is always joking around and making silly puns that sometimes turn out to be huge clues. Seriously, learn to read and enjoy her sarcasm. If you don't like her, laugh at her! It's all good. (Although it's still not clear if OpAphid is a female or a male or most likely an organization consisting of a group of people, we tend to refer to it as 'her' for convenience, identifying her with the girl in their videos. But think of 'her' messages as those of a corporate public relations department). Here's an example of one of their communications, in the context of solving one of Tachyon's puzzles which OpAphid didn't want solved:
Isn't she a riot? Well, within that message lay a clue for the solution that they didn't want revealed (the way to understand this apparent contradiction is that in-character she wanted to HINDER our progress, but out-of-character she was actually helping us), which was the following message from Tachyon to her partner:
HE NEEDS TO KNOW HOW LONG THEY HAVE BEEN ON TO HIM IT IS NOT LIKE THEY JUST STOP TRACKING SOMEONE
The key to decoding this was the three-character string 'GPS'. This information was revealed even before Bree and Daniel hit the road! These are the kinds of revelations that we can get from working out this (new to you) aspect of the LG15 saga. Another big example, a few days later, on Nov 11, almost a full week before Gemma mentioned the watcher, the latest drop from Tachyon included five pictures of Daniel filming the ceremony, three of them practically identical to those Daniel found on Lucy's computer. Also, a text file: filename GRIGORI, contents WHO WATCHES THE WATCHERS. This was 5 days before the comment by The Deacons mentioning the Grigori in the "Man in the Suit" video (which many here considered proof that The Deacons were canon).
I apologize for the long post, just thought I'd give you a small glimpse into the deep, meaningful characters from OpAphid within the LG15 world. These are just a couple of examples of how the two stories intersect, perhaps the most satisfying to find out. Go to the forum to get the big picture, take your time to digest it all, the context is important but don't worry if you can't read it all in a day or two. Don't just watch the videos, you wont make any sense of them (especially the first batch dealing with Cassie) and you'll become frustrated. The good stuff is beyond that. There's so many other types of communications with these new characters: there's constant YouTube profile updates, there's private messaging with players (through YT PM's), there's voice messages in phone numbers to listen to (you don't need to call since others have recorded and posted them on YT), there's a few that have received live, interactive phone calls from "Brother", there's been the 3 drops from Tachyon, there's been craigslists.com posts, and most importantly, there's the fan interaction, the making friends part of it, the sharing and learning of stuff from each other. Don't try to do it all in a couple of days. If you find that something is boring or too complicated to follow, just skip the details, get the conclusion, put it in the back of your mind, and move on to the next thing. Take your time, and enjoy it.

I'm lukewarm about this. I don't know what to think. I think it's rather ridiculous to "restart" the ARG now that noobs will be playing. I'm sorry, but if they had liked it when it started, they would have played. There are a lot of people who put a lot of time and work into solving this stuff, and now it's all for nothing. I guess I just feel...a little used.

Sounds like a lot of work...and time. I'll probably never get caught up with all the OpAphid, Tachyon and Brother stuff.deagol wrote:Go to the forum to get the big picture, take your time to digest it all, the context is important but don't worry if you can't read it all in a day or two. I personally have no interest in the involved process of code cracking with OpAphid and Tachyon, but -- now that they're canon -- I've gone ahead and watched all the videos. In all honesty, I think they're very interesting, and from what little I've read, it seems like there was a bit of foreshadowing with them.
If nothing else, I love the directing in the videos and enjoyed them for that if no other reason. The storyline to them seems almost non-existent, but it would be interesting to see if they could subtly work it into the main plot without compromising those fans who have no major interest in this side story.
Anyway, to summarize: I've got no interest in taking part in the game aspect. I'll watch all the videos, though, if only because the directing is cool and who knows? I might get something out of it for that reason even if it becomes irrelevant to the overall scheme of things.
Still, I hope this doesn't lead to a notion that the main storyline can be drawn out forever. That's the problem with most ongoing works of fiction: they have no clear objective in sight, and there probably never will be an ending. Superman? X-Men? Pokemon? They're never going to end. So we're left with little reason to care. Creators, keep in mind: special things are all the more special because they end.
Edit: Can't believe I forgot to say it, but I have to make my obligatory comment on Daniel. Loved his lines. Even the "What?" lines. Don't ask why. I just thought they were nice. Love the character, love the actor. That is all.

This is all so weird... some people are complaining about Op being officially part of the LG15 story line, not having hints given to them that they were connected in the first place, and the amount of work that will involve them to get caught up... If you remember, the creators said that there would be spin-offs and other things tied into the story line right? And from what Ive followed and been reading on different forums isnt part of an ARG being able to solve, change and find things for yourself? Whats the difference between this and other ARG's? Regardless that I dont post much Ive been following the story line of both LG and Op from the start and it was exciting learning that they were connected! It is just disappointing to see how many people are having a fit because now they have to go and read ot watch videos. All of this is my own opinion and say what you will but thats the fun part about ARG's... never knowing when one will show up, be connected to another or lead you in a different direction.

It's not being restarted. It is starting a new story arc. OpAphid has had 2 so far. It's kind of like the show Heroes. They're on their second arc right now, right?
Each arc is a jumping on point, and together they tell a larger story.
I am looking forward to the start of "The I in APHID" personally. And I lurk mostly, but find it easy to follow (and I like the videos). That song mash-up puzzle was fun though!
Off-topic, but I stayed at a cheap motel in IL a couple of months ago, and the sheets were all patterned and mis-matched, so that not even the top and bottom sheets on the same bed matched, let alone the two beds in the room! They ranged from girly to just plain ugly!iqfrenzy wrote:Yeah, the walls are really an icky green too.Ashley wrote:I wonder where they are. I've never seen a motel have such... 'girly' bedsheets.
