I don't have a problem with editing the videos to show the "middle frame" as the thumbnail. As Milo said, it is part of the shoddy YT game that many of their content creators have to play. I feel sorry for the creators that they have to worry about this facet of YT, it is just stupid...
I was a little disturbed by the inclusion though of a completely random pic in the middle of the vid. A more clever way to pull this off would have been to edit the vid from the beginning with, clearly legible and pertinent, frames in the middle to provide this function... A little more creativity in the editing room, that 's all it would take.
I have to say that there are so many absurd plot problems, continuity issues, (insert usual litany of rants) that this is probably the least of their problems at this point, although they appear to be getting a little better.
Maybe... I still want to know who can see what vids and phorums .

I thought it was a clever way for the Creators to keep the YouTube fans updated on an important and exciting episode.
It was also a clever and novel way to address, without breaking charactor, the long-recognized problem that a good number of the casual YT followers aren't aware of and/or don't follow the LG15 non-Bree charactors--and thus miss really important plots points that aren't shown in Bree's videos. This is plain just through the video viewcounts and subscription numbers:
Bree:
Subscribers: 71,888
Viewcount on most recent vid: 214,104
Daniel:
Subscribers: 18,996
Viewcount on most recent vid: 322,227
Jonas:
Subscribers: 9,056
Viewcount on most recent vid: 61,800
Gemma:
Subscribers: 14,631
Viewcount on most recent vid: 81,063
Tachyon:
Subscribers: 2,666
Viewcount on most recent vid: 13,377
OpAphid:
Subscribers: 2,957
Viewcount on most recent vid: 127,624
I think the numbers speak for themselves. Over 3.5 times as many people are subscribed to Bree as they are to Daniel. About 9 times as many people are subscribed to Bree as they are to Jonas. Over 23 times as many people subscribe to Bree as to the the ARGs.
Now, maybe with the exception of the ARGs, all the videos from the Canonical charactors are equally as important to the LG15 storyline. The YouTubers who are following the story on YT are obviously watching it because they are interested in the plot and want to follow it--they are just not hardcore or obsessed enough about it to frequent the LG15 site and find out about the peripheral characters/new characters, etc.
Why is it a bad thing to make them aware of a video that is posted by a non-Bree character that they may not have been aware of having an account on YouTube?
Why is it a bad thing to bring to their attention an important slice of a storyline that they *want* to follow, while cleverly keeping it IN CHARACTOR and IN UNIVERSE??
Are you in the right thread? Nobody ever said either of these two things are bad. And when did anybody ever argue against Daniel posting to Bree's account? Why is it a bad thing to make them aware of a video that is posted by a non-Bree character that they may not have been aware of having an account on YouTube?

And there was nothing "clever" about it. It's the same annoying trick that's being done far too often on YouTube.

I think some only read the first couple of posts in the thread before jumping to (the wrong) conclusions That's an inherent problem with forums such as this. An argument erupts, gets resolved, and then someone doesn't read the entire thread and the whole thing starts againEliCash wrote:Are you in the right thread? I think this has been thoroughly discussed. Now the danger is, as 'mute said, someone reading the first few pages and posting and causing things to flame up again. I'm going to lock this now, and Eli, if you want to still discuss it, let me know. Perhaps we can figure out a better way.
There was another thread started about it in the Plot Discussion forum as well.

I unlocked this again, now that things have died down a bit, because people said they'd like to continue the discussion (hopefully in a non-heated way). However, I did change the title to make it more specific and less accusatory. I left the original title in the poster's message, though, to avoid stepping on toes.

thanks, bk!
does anyone know who the first person at youtube was to successfully exploit the middle-frame-as-screencap issue at youtube? i first learned about it when renetto did it in one of his early videos:

Cool deal BK! I do not know who was the first to do it but could someone explain again why a particular thumnail image can not be chosen as the video creator wishes on YouTube? I thought i heard it said on Revver this is not an issue. You would think that YouTube would fix this problem if it was getting so annoying to people. Just curious.
