Until you've had to moderate this zoo, I'd ask that you cut BK and the other mods a little slack... All moderation is based on judgment calls, and every single one of us would make that call slightly differently, even if the outcome were the same. So I say, instead of complaining about how they're doing, let's give them all a hand!

edit: to add - sorry for contributing to the off-topic banter regarding the complaint of the moderating style of the on-topic complaint. Feel free to move this comment as you see fit

True....I can think of a million things I'd rather be than a Mod. It's a thankless job.....but I'll say thanks anyway.
*yells to BK* OK, lock it up and throw away the key!

I just want to say that that poll is REALLY biased.
we have two options:
1. slippery slope
2. the manipulation is fine
how LOADED is the word "manipulation." Where is the option that says "I do not think the practice is manipulative at all." ?
frankly, I think the inclusion of the still frame was far from manipulative. Its very common for youtube users to do this in order to have a more representative video preview. The end result is a More Polished, Professional video. not only that, Daniel specifically pointed out what he had done; it was not a secret.
it is unfair to compare this practice to secretly splicing in pornographic images to increase views because doing something like that is obviously NOT professional. They are two very different things and should not be lumped together.
I think the Original Poster overreacted. and that's my opinion.

Plus, the Creators aren't all about just a "creative outlet" just to "express themselves". It's about money, fame, fortune and I'd be the same way. Use what sells. I've seen a million ways to sell something that are FAR more deceiving than this.
Note: I don't think it's deceiving BTW.

haha. good point. i do think it is manipulative in the strictest sense of that word, but i wasn't disturbed by it. it is different than the videos that insert a porn shot, but only in degree of manipulation, as it is the same method. now if they renamed the the video "Saddam Hanging" .....

That's part of why I haven't actually voted in this poll... Well... That and:
But the lack of options that aren't loaded is probably part of why everyone took EliCash to task for this thread. But, to keep this thread from being about EliCash, back to the topic:
Manipulation? Probably. Justified? Perhaps. Did it bother me at all? No. Is this discussion important? Absolutely. Regardless of how this thread started, it's been insightful.

I watch all the videos via Revver anyway.
I understand that it is important to pay homage to YouTube and LG15's early beginnings there... so I can see why many of you are so upset.
But all the same, they are trying to create a series here. And that takes money, and they don't profit from YouTube. Revver = Money = The Series Continuing.
By watching Revver rather than YouTube you are only supporting the series and its continuation. Realistically I think that this is the Creators attempt to make more people visit LG15.com and watch Revver vids.
I think that perhaps a little more obvious way of doing this is to create bigger links, etc to the site.

Personally, I think it's just business. I don't see why people are getting so fed up over it. The image spliced in was not obscene or offensive. Nor was it crucial to the plot. So what's the big deal?

Has anyone actually addressed the idea of WHEN this edit occurs?
1 minute and 26 seconds into the vid.
1-26 is also a date in the not too distant future.
I don't know what Daniel could know about this date, or why he'd want to clue us in. But then again, Bree did hint at the date of the "ceremony" before she outright told us, and Tachyon contacted Daniel once, I guess she could have again, with more information.
Aaaaand...
since YouTube shows the time and Revver does not, this could explain the inconsistency.

Well originally I was only going to have one option in the poll, so you should be thanking me for having the second option at all. Heh.

However, I did change the title to make it more specific and less accusatory.
Are "accusatory" titles not allowed?
