Dear Creators

Clues. Theories. Where do you think the story is headed?

Moderator: Moderators

How much influence should we have on the storyline?

I think it should be around 40/60..we have 40% control so we know we're still in the game, but have something new to surprise us.

The videos need to be longer, with more hidden clues...ideas and things we have to research to discover.

Dear Creators

Dear Creators,

Hey guys. I just have one lil concern for whats going on right now with Daniel and Bree...it seems like either 1) you guys are way to predictable or 2) we, the fans, are increasingly influencing the story line. At first this was all fun and dandy, but we are not all writers. We like to analyze every little thing of every video from nail polish to bottles to what way Thor is facing...and research things online to see who can find what everything means first. If we tell Bree to jump, and she does, what is there for us to look for? She's jumping, but why? Well thats easy, because we told her to. This is just one lil suggestion that perhaps you guys start thinking more for yourself, add more length to the videos (just a lil would be nice, like 40 seconds more or so), and SURPRISE US. Make us post a 10 to 15 page discussion on the next video, trying to discern the clues and mysterious. Afterall, thats what got most of us into the story anyway. =)

Well, thanks for listening.

I like that they take all feedback into consideration...but I think this should remain THEIRS...and they should have more than even 60% control over the storyline.

I don't want fan ideas to influence things too much.. I am afraid that's might have been what happened during the downward spiral that occured as the lead-in to the Ceremony occured. Now we don't know this for sure, for all we know the forum didn't affect that at all, but I do thing it coincidental that once they were outed and fans were able to start knowingly give ideas to influence the show it seemed to lose a lot of it's former character. No offense to fans out there, but I really trust mesh's ideas a lot more than any of ours. After all, the average person will just come up with average ideas (such as the clear predictability that LG started to follow). I'd like to mostly leave it in Mesh's hands because I feel he knows best. Surprises are much better than doing what everyone's saying should happen on the forums.

I agree, HyeMew...personally I think it is the cause for a lot of the jumbled storyline and loose ends.

How 'bout none?...I want none. maybe 0%-15%. If / when I find out the creators have been taking most of/ the entire plot direction from the boards, I'm gonna loose a lot of respect for this entire thing. I'm not saying they'll care about my respect or lack there of, but it will be gone. I like the idea of having an "ARG element" in the story...but not if it means that we are writing the story. Sorry to mention this, but CIW was going about this ARG thing in a more interesting way in my opinion...and it seemed like the "plot" was already written..like if/ when clues were found they were for excitement or confirmation, they weren't a way of changing or writing the story. (of course, CIW didn't really end up the way I thought it would...or even in a way I was satisfied with....ok, so it didn't really "end" at all as much as just stopped, but I think we all know what I'm trying to say.)

yea, exactly.
I was hoping they *kind* of had it all planned in advance, and we'd just follow along the plot...
but I'm really disappointed to see there's no 'big plan' and no plot, see under: "oh I reeeeaaallly want another 'proving science wrong' ooohhh there it is!!".

We agree. We liked the earlier shape of the story, before it began to drift. We understand the appeal of a fan driven medium but do prefer the mystery that comes from a story conceived in it's entireity. Today was fun...but hope the overall plot won't degenerate into something grim.

Interactive storytelling is one of the main goals of the LG15 project. I am certain (and by certain I mean that I do know for certain) that the Creators listen to our complaints and wishes and try to integrate them into the story as best as they can, while still trying to follow through with their original ideas for the LG15 plot.

The problem is, we as fans are not in agreement with what we want to see happen. Does Bree go through with the Ceremony,; it an insult to Thelemites; do we get more Proving Science Wrong; Do we like teeny-bopper Bree or occultist-in-training Bree? What suggestions should the Creators take? That is easy, the ones that help tell an entertaining story. I for one have not really been upset by anything or disappointed in anything we've been shown so far; I think the story has been solid.

I remember hearing somewhere that Bree and Daniel were never supposed be "more than friends," but since there was so much feedback about it, they eventually kissed and had that whole flirtation thang going on...

I for one like that we can persuade what happens. I wouldn't want the story to be stuck in a plot I had no interest in. However, I do wish the Creators would make the videos either longer or more frequent, and with more details for us to nitpick.

I would not describe anything in this project as interactive. Listening to the viewers demands and desires for the show isn’t interactivity, it is simply adjusting the show to match your demographic. This is done constantly with TV shows, they break up the season into two parts and then rewrite the second half based on fan reaction to the first. No one in TV claims for this to be interacting with the fans, it is simply reacting to the fans.

LG is a passive story, the audience watches it, they are not a part of it. M&M have suggested that they would like the audience to become involved and for the project to actually become interactive, but up until now that has not happened. I don’t know how this could be achieve properly, or if an interactive story would be more entertaining than the one we are currently receiving, it would be an interesting experiment. Personally, I think that the claims of interactivity were simply buzzwords for the press to make the project seem more fresh and original, but that is beside the point.

I find this project interesting on its own merits, and wish all of this talk of interaction would simply disappear. The beauty of this project is how it is exploring the possibilities of what can be down with a faux-vlog style of storytelling. The style and format of which is very different from other forms of storytelling, and I think this is the reason that there is so much dissension on this board.

People are not use to this style so they react poorly when it does not follow the ‘rules’ of storytelling that they are use to. Such as the schizophrenic nature of the videos, Bree suddenly jumps from being sad and where the narrative is very story driven to where Bree is happy and the story is suddenly character driven. This follows the faux-vlog form. The majority of Brees life takes place off camera, so it makes sense for the on camera Bree to be inconsistent.

I like the idea that we have input into the storyline but I think the input should come from the serious discussion of the "clues" (intentional or otherwise) and where the plot has led to so far. NOT from polls or people saying "I want this" or "I want that".
It's ALL connected...
