If anyone wants to know what a London Accent sounds like....

Cassie. Lucy. Bree's parents. Who are they, and how do they fit in?

Here's a good example of a London Based TV show called Eastenders, it's very popular in the UK.

This contains good examples of a London Accent and this weeks clip even has an example of the use of the word Geezer.
No one says 'Bloody' or 'Wanker' as far as I noticed.... they wouldn't get away with saying 'wanker' before 9pm as far as I am aware.

PushedButton. You're not being totally honest with us here, aren't you dear? You know, I travel a bit, and I'm quite often in London as a matter of fact. So I don't know where you hang out in London. I'm South Ken/Chelsea based when I'm there. I do hear some bad words sometimes though.

Hi Gemma. If ever you want hang out in London, gimme a call!

What am I not being honest about? I don't get you :S

When I was saying no one says 'bloody' or 'wanker' I was referring to the video clips, not London in general... they swear like sailors in real life - just not on tv.

You forget that Gemma is not a native Londoner, she is just studying there, So speaking with a different accent is justified.

Only if it turns out she's from New Zealand. lol
A Midlands (Nottingham) Accent sounds even LESS like Gwyneth Paltrow. Perhaps we should try to find you some clips of Coronation Street.

I got you wrong. I though you were trying to tell us that Gemma can not be from London because Londoners don't swear like that. Which would be totally wrong. But, ok, my misunderstanding. There is a tv show I really like from the UK. I can't remember the name, but it's a group of friends hanging out mostly in a pub, and they talk about sex all the time and their issues with their sexual life. It's just hilarious. But there is a lot of swearing! I saw it in the US when I was in Calif.

1. I'm not american, I'm mexican

2. Gemma has never said where she's from. A fan wrote her once asking her (politely) about her accent, and she replied that it's a mix of two different accents. She didn't specify which ones.

3. So please don't bash Gemma for not speaking in an english accent when you don't even know where she's from. As for the slang, such things tend to stick to people when staying at one place long enough.

4. I looked up the definition of the word "Wanker" according to Wikipedia:
The term literally means "one who wanks. In particular, it may connote one (usually male) who is self-obsessed, or a show-off.The term wanker has also been extended, as a generic insult, to cover self-aggrandizement or ostentatious behaviour, specifically where the performer's impression of their own talent and ability manifestly exceeds that of the audience.

Hence, what gemma was trying to say was that Purple Monkey is a Show Off. And I think many people would agree he really is, because he enjoys the attention he gets from Bree a little too much and holds himself in high regard.

a) Yes we know what the literal meaning is - we just think it's odd that she chose that word.
b) Gemma's accent is not really the issue here, but considering she's been in the UK since she was AT LEAST 15 (I've done the math somewhere else) she should know how and when to use the word wanker by now.
b) It's a puppet!!!
