Are you ready for where the plot is headed...
Its disappointing to see where this is all headed before it get even close to happening, but might as well be one of the first one's to say it, because at least I'll have that going for me once I am thoroughly disappointed that it has come to pass.
Jonas is canon, point blank, no if ands or buts about it. I know, I am not any happier about it then you are. But everything fits too perfectly for it not to be true. I won’t rehash what other people have already said in the forum, it’s obvious, for no other reason then he IS the male version of Bree.
Now enough of why Jonas is canon, let talk about how he fits into the story and why. There is no driving drama right now in the story. The being "on the run" has turned into a one trick pony for the creators, you can only show them running away from "The Order" for so long with nothing happening, they need to find a way out. They need new blood that can actually interact with our main characters; Gemma can only do so much for being in "London".
First there is the fact that they need to get Bree and Daniel "off the road" so to speak, and into a stationary location. There needs to be more development of the story and they haven't been able to do that "on the run". Jonas fills this role.
Jonas "its pretty nice having a big house to myself, lots of place's to play, but ahh... kinda boring... kinda lonely" in "Bored at Home"
So Jonas fills the role of having a location for them to crash at.
Second, Bree and Daniel are not getting along right now in the story, they are probably sick of being around each other by now, and in the middle of this you introduce a new male lead, who by letting them stay at his house takes on the role as the savior, and new male interest for Bree thus creating one of the best things in any drama, a love Triangle. The introduction of Jonas could also be the reason why Yueself thought he was leaving the series.
Third, Jonas will be the proverbial wrench in the well greased gears that are Bree and Daniel. His character will allow for a whole slew "He said, She said" videos that are the essence of what vlogging is about anyways. Think MTV RealWorld, or RoadRules Challenge, where we get to hear one person whine about another person, and then that person getting upset about the vlog, and replying to it. So basically Bree and Daniel will start to fight, and Jonas will start to move in and be a "really good friend" to Bree, Daniel will get jealous.
Fourth during this whole time we will get updates about "The Order" and more clues as to what’s going on. Jonas will get pulled deeper into the Bree and Daniel'verse. * And offering more and more help as things progress, maybe we will find out that Jonas's parents or dad are some way involved, at the very least more about his past and then we will hear something about Bree's parents and it will be their time to chase "The Order". And of course at this point Jonas will be too involved in everything just to let them go by themselves.
Okay everything after the * is really pure speculation, because at that point the creators would have written themselves out of the bottle neck they had gotten into and maybe taken the story in a new direction.
That’s it folks welcome to our new world...
On another note, Jonas or the actor that plays Jonas or the Creators or whoever is reading this the most entertaining point about this whole Jonas character so far for me was the last 2-3 seconds of this video when the actor drops his guard and we get to see the real person behind those eyes, its like a moment of vulnerability or something that is just amazing and maybe if he can bring that out in the rest of this character we might but be in for one hell of a ride,
But if in two videos all we got where 2-3 seconds of entertainment, we might be in for a long winter of watching head stands and Daniel reading comic books...

Not saying you're right, not saying you're wrong, I'm just acknowledging your theory for being surely interesting.
The most interesting thing about this theory is, that unlike just about every other one ever proposed, this one actually is flawless, seemless, elegant. It all makes sense...
and when you couple it with the fact based on picture quality Jonas appears to use the same outdoor camera as Bree (and that he's most likely in Socal, as it's still green there when most of the country's gone brown), well there's basically no factor to put in the "reasons it's not canon" column, now is there? Well except the fact the writing is about as interesting as the Sunday paper on Tuesday, however I attribute that to a different writing team, as mentioned in the Wired article, trying to get in the grove of being witty and charming.

I was so thinking along those same lines. Hummm see Bree and Daniel are going to run out of money soon... so what go back home where they were told not to go. Oh see here is a guy that is bored, seem to have a big house to himself and may be able to help them out. I didn't think of the love triangle arc though. Nice touch to add some drama. Reminds of some Dawsons Creek moments......lol!

Re: Are you ready for where the plot is headed...
I agree with alot of what you have to say, or rather let's say those are some of my fears.
But, something I noticed when viewing Jonas is that he is like Gemma in some ways, but at the same time her opposite. For example, he did a little thing that Gemma did in a vid when she said, "that's not true." Umm, okay, besides that I'm not sure how they're similar.
Let me talk about their differences. Gemma is always going on about cleanliness, having things a certain way; Order and control if you will. In comparison, Jonas is going on about, "I don't like structure..", and seems to express a more free and chaotic perspective (dancing around, ect). The two of them can potentially act as two differant forces or perspectives for Bree. Who knows, opposites attract and perhaps Gemma and Jonas will eventually get together, so that there's nothing to worry about for our divine couple.
It's disturbing that they would introduce Jonas to Bree at all. I've been hoping he might be more apart of that Opaphie thing..perhaps the 'brother.' I'm talking out of my rear on this tho, cuz I'm not caught up enough to speculate on that end.
At any rate, Jonas's vid's are already offering up some new symbols (his name, his drums, ect) to be mulled over and this excites me. Plus, I think the eye-candy is doing a pretty good job at acting. I'm believing the character.
The creators lost my confidence making the Opaphie canon. I'm still totally pissed. I think it was bad-friggin-form to the fans who like to keep up and value canon. However, as I spit and growl looking through all of the stuff I missed, I'm actually a little .. dare I say, impressed? Never. Let's just say the added depth gives me hope.
So, yeah excellent post, and I hope your wrong.

In the Reykjavik airport there are (used to be?) these advertisements that showed contemporary people who had ancient names and what their names meant, and one was a guy named Jonas and it said "My name means peace."
According to behindthename.com Jonas is derived from Jonah, "From the Hebrew name יוֹנָה (Yonah) meaning "dove". This was the name of a prophet swallowed by a fish, as told in the Old Testament Book of Jonah. He emerged from the fish alive three days later."
I don't know what name symbolism could be there. Maybe he will bring about peace somehow?

Jonah was the prophet of doom to the corrupted city of Nineveh. At first he refused the mission put upon him by God. But when he finally made it to the city, after being swallowed by the whale, he did not understand why God didn't want anymore to destroy that city. God teached him to pardon and be merciful. He turned out to be a prophet after that.jill2009 wrote:In the Reykjavik airport there are (used to be?) these advertisements that showed contemporary people who had ancient names and what their names meant, and one was a guy named Jonas and it said "My name means peace."
