It was soo hard. I started smoking when I was 11.

I didn't even realize it had been a year sine I quit till I answered the "Your First Job" question. ^_^

But, with my husband being Allergic to Cig smoke, I couldn't smoke around him, and eventually he asked me to quit. So I quit cold turkey.

Tips:
1. Try putting a rubberband on your wrist, when you want to smoke Pop it(gently) to distract your craving.

2. I wanted to hold a cigarette more than smoke it so I would hold a pen or pencil between the fingers you hold your cigarette to help with that.

3. Don't smoke for atleast a week. Then take a drag off of a friends. You'll almost die choking. It's like smoking again for the first time.

Thats what helped me quit. ^_^

Oh, thanks. I've heard of the rubber band thing but never tried it. Now, I think I will.

yeh I quit for 6 months once like 5 years ago, I even used to keep a smoke in my drawer to prove to myself i could do it.

Then I took a job as a waiter...and within a week I'd started again.

I'm thinking about stopping again soon but not quite yet. One thing i learned from last time was that you can only quit if you REALLY want to. If you don't then no amount of gum or whatever will help.

I quit about 8 years ago. Could've really done with a bit of Lithium the first 3 months.
