The Banner

On the blue "A tribute to Lonelygirl15" banner at the top of every page, Crowley's unicursal hexagram appears twice, as does a pentagram. The pentagram could easily just be a decoration, though. I expect this has been noticed before; if so, could someone link the thread, please?

I don't recall any prior conversations about it...but I do believe what you are seeing as a pentagram is, actually, another unicursal hexagram. It's just larger and a different color. If you look closely in the center, there is a dot that gives it away, and the sixth corner is dipping down into the "5".
I wonder if this was just something they threw in off-handed or if it's there to really show us something?
Good catch!

You're right, it's a third hexagram, not a pentagram. I think it was definitely intentional. I've never seen the unicursal hexagram used as a doodle-y decoration, as the flowers, swirls, etc. are on the banner.

Not sure if anyone has thought about this...a hexagram has 6 points....
So three hexagrams would be 6....6....6

This whole issue is something that has been bugging me for a while now. Why would they have direct references to Thelema on the homepage if her religion (which isn't even a religion at all) isn't Thelema?
So my thinking is that the core meaning has to tie into the plot somehow.
Anybody want to post an in-depth study on the Greek word at the bottom? Maybe a history of the hexagram as a symbol? I'm rusty on my Greek (at best) and I'm (shhh!) supposed to be working right now.

Because they were sitting around stoned listening to Led Zeppelin, and one of them made a suggestion that Aleister Crowley (pronounced in this case Cr-OW!-ley) would be a good villain in a movie, so a quick google gave them good fodder for their little web soap.
Then they found out people actually *believed* in Crowley (pronounced in this case Cr-OH!-ley), and back pedaled so as not to get sued. I mean, they might be related to the Scientologists!

Read Gargantua, by Rabelais, Duty, by Aleister Crowley, and the Cosmic Trigger by Robert Anton Wilson. Oh, and then watch V for Vendetta. Those will keep you occupied and you'll have a decent understanding of Thelema as a concept rather than Thelema as religion.
Hexagram's hella complicated. In simple terms, it's a union of the feminine downward triangle with the masculine upward triangle, but that's very basic. Drawn in the traditional way, the triangles are separate, but when it's unicursal, it's unity. i.e.
"For about me flames the pentagram, and in the column the six rayed star"
i.e. the microcosm of man is the pentagram - the macrocosm of the tree of life is in the column. together they are superimposed, to make the number of Magick, 11. "I am The Empress & the Hierophant. Thus eleven, as my bride is eleven." - Liber AL 2:16
There's probably more, but I'm at work and too busy to overanalyze the hexagram. Think planets, vice elements. not within you (or about you), before you, or in the column. 11. Aum Ha!
