To what extent is the story arc 'made up as it goes along'?

While it's always fascinating to read all the ideas, comments and speculation after each installment of LG15, I'm left wondering whether in fact, there is a fully formed, pre-determined story arc running at all?
We have been told that 'The Creators' read these forums intently With the adoption of OpAphid as the official LG15 ARG, the importance of viewer/player feedback is pretty much a given. What I've been pondering recently is to what extent the response that we (the viewers) give to each LG15 episode goes to shaping future episodes/storylines? (If at all)
Are they 'making it up as they go along'?
For example if it becomes apparent that a particular character proves to be extremely unpopular with viewers, do 'The Creators' alter the storyline accordingly to 'kill them off'? If someone posts an intriguing theory or speculation, might this be incorporated into the storyline at a later date? God forbid if viewers find a 'loose thread' in the plot, would this encourage 'The Creators' to resolve this in a future episode?
Alternatively, if a particular theory becomes part of 'popular thinking' in the forums, might 'The Creators' deliberately change the storyline to go on a different tangent?
