Op is now a major player...LG15 to lose a lot of viwers?

Am I the only one a littled miffed with the recent video? I know Oppy has always had a small role to play in the series, but a casual viewer can watch LG15 and still follow without having to go into Op's storyline. Anything from the ARG side of teh series that was needed to continue the storyline was introduced to us by one of the characters (ie Jonas showing a clip of Gemma and Lucy). I have plenty of friends who are already disenfranchised with the slow plot and with this recent development, theyre abandoning it altogether. Who wants to spend their time going over months of video from Op, Borther, Tachyon as well as find out what happened in the drops.
The worst part is, they would have gladly done it a couple of months ago and would have been fine with watching it piece by piece as soon as a new video came from Op or whoever came out...but now instead of a walk to catch up with the ARG side, its a sprint to catch up. And the sad part is, as much as I want to rag on them for abandoning the series, I cant. They have a point "the creators said I wouldn't need to follow the ARG to follow LG15! I taught it was ALTERNATE reality for a reason."
I have a feeling LG15 is going to lose a lot of viewers over this...

I thought the Creators gave a pretty good explanation
HERE
You don't have to participate in the ARG - merely watch the OpA/Tachyon video as additional characters. We'll help you get caught up.
Welcome to the forum!

I have heard this complaint alot around here but let me just tell you that I know some people are stressed about having to go back and watch all the vids from OP, Tachyon and Brother (10033 on You Tube), but let me just say, that like Trainer said, you don't have to play the game, but I strongly suggest that you check out those vids. I know it's alot to watch but you're missing some good chunks of plot if you're not watching them.

I think thats point. If you dont go and watch all the videos, your missing a huge chunk of the plot. Obviously this concern doesnt apply to us here in the forums, but we make up maybe not even 10% of ALL LG15 viewers. we in the forums have already followed the ARG so it doesnt affect us. Sure u dont have to actually PLAY the ARG to follow LG15 but you atleast have to WATCH the ARG videos. what about the other 90% who dont have the time or want to expend the time to watch two dozen or so back videos?
I guess it just means the LG15 faithful have to show even more enthusiasm and support to make up for the casual fan base lost...

I don't think you need to even watch all of the Op/Tach/Brother videos to catch up with the OpAphid side of things.
With OpAphid, you could probably start with the "Babysitting" video (which is where the two series seem to first overlap video-wise)
With Tach and Brother, their Gemma series is probably all you need to follow (those videos have been posted onto Gemma's Youtube account recently)
As long as you realize that OpAphid is Bree's opposition, I don't think you need to delve into much of their backstory if you don't want to.
Tach and Brother appear to be on Bree's side (anti-OpAphid anyway).
Don't know if this was helpful at all... I know I'd be miffed to have to start following something new all of a sudden, but OpAphid's videos tend to be pretty exciting.

The thing is, they have to eventually include Op, Cassie and Tachyon/Brother into the storyline.
No, you don't have to solve the puzzles or do the drops, but the jist of the storyline is still there. Op is obviously part of The Order, and an instigator of the whole plotline, she's important. Right now, she's the Big Bad. Her storyline had to interweave with the rest of the LG15 plot, or the main plot would stagnate.
The same is true with Tachyon and Brother - they're obviously trying to stop this whole thing from unfolding before it gets worse, and keep Bree from doing this ceremony. Bree and Jonas are stumbling around half blind right now, not knowing what to do - but Tachyon and Brother are obviously trying to point them in the right direction with their clues.
As for Cassie, well, we obviously don't know what her exact role in the story is or will be, but she's also going to be a central figure in this whole story.
It's getting to be where all the different characters and facets of the story are going to have to interact, or the Breeniverse is just going to seem way too broken up and fragmented to make much sense to a normal viewer.
The ARG is still a completely seperate thing - but this video is obviously hugely important to the storyline progressing. Plus, it gives us that little bit of suspense and "ZOMG WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT" to feed on, so we don't get bored.

Well, there's always a happy medium.
This last video had a hidden phone number in it. The ARG people figured it out...but they don't really need to go into big detail about how...and honestly, it isn't necessary to know that Daniel left a voice mail for Bree to call him. Those watching he series really only need to know that Daniel was kidnapped by someone trying to persuade her to do the Ceremony.
The details really aren't necessary for the casual viewer.

I jumped into the op stuff late - around thanksgiving - and it did take some time to get caught up but I found that you could still understand things just through reading the summaries on the forums, and figure out the details as you move on. It's not too much of a hinderance afterawhile.
Although I'm pretty impressed by everyone and how fast everyone figures everything out. It's a smart bunch

To be honest, until the latest few LG15 vids, I was enjoying the OpAphid / Tachyon even more than the regular ones! I came into them a little late, but it only took one slow day at work to catch up

I think ppl are making a big thing out of nothing. op has always been a big part of lg.
if you wanted to know what was going on on the orders side of things you needed to at least watch the developing story of opaphid.
we all knew this was coming and to deny that fact, is denying the whole series from the ability to advance the plot.

The creators made it clear in the beginning that we would not have to watch these ARG videos as part of the lg15 videos. I personally don't like the op and tach videos and I wish they were'nt become part of the main storyline because it makes me want to stop watching
but I don't want to but it feels like I don't have a choice now.

Yes, the Creators have said since the "conception" of the LG15/OpAphid convergence that watching the OpAphid vids and participating in the side puzzles and clues would be supplemental ("something added to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole"). So, while it would be beneficial to watch the videos and read up on some of the basic info in the links provided in this thread or in
AphidPedia, it's totally your choice whether you "follow" or not. As far as I can tell (though I have watched the OpA vids but haven't participated in the puzzle-solving), the characters in the Breeniverse have acknowledged or included any imperative OpA footage or information to include those out-of-the-loop, Non-OpAphid watchers.
Don't give up, guys!
