OpAphid is the official Alternate Reality Game (ARG) of Lonelygirl15. For those unfamiliar with ARGs, these interactive games allow fans to get directly involved. Watch videos, discuss clues, solve puzzles, and be a part of the Breeniverse.

The OpAphid "Operators" moderate the OpAphid section of the forums, and they are always happy to answer any questions new users may have. They've compiled many helpful FAQs and discussion threads to bring new fans up to speed. Read this thread for the best place to start! There is a significant amount of helpful information contained in the OpAphid area of the forums!

Do you need to participate in OpAphid or watch OpAphid videos to experience Lonelygirl15?
OpAphid is a great way to expand on the Lonelygirl15 experience, and participating in the ARG will expand on your experience while letting you participate at even greater levels. All users are encouraged to try it out and participate at any level they feel comfortable.

However, for those who don't choose to participate in the ARG, note that there is some overlap between OpAphid and Lonelygirl15 in some of the OpAphid videos. These videos will show up in the flow of Lonelygirl15 so you will know which ones are helpful to watch to stay caught up with the plot. Watching these videos will be very helpful, but participation in the ARG is not required to enjoy the Lonelygirl15 videos.

Who is OpAphid and the OpAphid characters?
Part of the fun of the ARG is figuring this out. So far, three main characters have emerged (linked to their reference in the LGPedia):
