I'm not happy to hear that some of the most respected players in the game got these "hints" from glenn OOG. It makes you question, whether or not anyone even played the game. I think its disgusting. I dont' care how they were traded, either way, it wasn't right. It broke the most important rule of ARGs. Period. You can not defend Glenn breaking that rule. People have come forward, people have admitted to doing it, logs have been posted and read and commented on. As much as people want to defend what happened it was wrong. And everyone knows that.
If glenn is as smart as we give credit for he knows what he did was wrong. And he knew that it would ultimately back fire.

FWIW, I think that most of us who weren't playing the game came to this conclusion awhile back. I know when I saw some of the leaps made in the Miss Me? Puzzle, I immediately suspected that the PM had to somehow be feeding answers.

as i said in the legal form, i think a lot of things hinge on the contract between glen and the createatrons (i've heard many people say that there IS a contract). cheating is one thing, but giving unfair advantages could be constituted as an attempt to screw with the site which could result in SOME disciplinary action. but what sort would be again in the contract.

You're right Kelly! I'm sure he knew in some way it could backfire.

But to think back... How Many players were cheating? Unsettling.

I'm going to have to agree with that JayHank,
people unknowing to this situation that played the game have suspected that there were spies, that glenn was hand feeding certain players, it's all be suspected.
I'm shocked at the way that people are denying it in the msot part. I'm also shocked at the nudity alligations. I don't know if it's 100% fact, but it is a serious alligation that should not be ignored, expecially since we have someone who was involved with a trade, and someone who is higher up (moderator) coming out and saying she knew about This case, as well as others.

Oh yeah, and honestly, I am almost positive I remember reading something way back when about the XX/Xy puzzle and the "It just does" comment...

Shilling and cheating should never happen in an ARG. It ruins all the fun

I know I'm overreacting, but I feel like we're being fooled by some of the ARGplayers. I always thought as them as the smartest people ever... looked up to them in a way.
Now I'm wondering how many people who where cheating...

My two cents:

I understand that there all people who are very very invested in this game and this is very hurtful to them, but cheating happens.

It happens everywhere all the time, in every aspect of our lives.
Its unfortunate that it happened here in such an explosive way.

I am glad that there are people here that are as honest as they are that they were so shocked by this.

Shilling: Giving hints on behalf of a PM

That's not shilling. Shilling is when one person is working with the PM to attract players by giving them information to progress a game. A shill is NOT a legitimate game player, they are working for the person running the game. This is done to benefit the game or the PM.

A cheat is someone who advances in a game by doing something or gaining information outside the rules of the game for their own benefit or recognition.

What we're discussing today is that of a CHEAT, not a shill. Or at least, as far as we know. Even if the PM condones it, if the one person gets recognition , that's cheating. The player would have needed to be aware that they were being used for Glenn's benefit to be considered a shill.

We've been discussing both.
For the Petaluma Revisited drop I was told to have Luv stay put while "brother" was in route. I shilled so she didn't drive home another 3 hours empty handed.

Then I am most grateful for your "shilling" dear.
