				Insomnia sucks

I have been extremely tired this whole week... and very busy with school and my daughter. I have been wearing myself out, but for the life of me, I cannot sleep. I have times when I know if I layed down, I would pass out. I can never go to sleep at those times though, because my daughter is awake. By the time she goes to bed, I have to do my homework (can't do it when she is awake). When I finally finish everything, I just can't go to sleep. It is driving me insane!! I want to sleep!

Yes, insomnia does suck. There are at least a few "home" remedies you can try though. There's the old standby of warm milk ... blech! I'd imagine that drinking a shot of your favorite liquor might help out. This is an odd one but has worked for me a few times on those rare occasions when I can't sleep ... a dose of Nyquil. There are also plenty of over the counter sleep aids, although I've never used them so can't attest to their effectiveness. I've heard a lot of people say that having a radio or television on helps them sleep although that would never work for me. Also, reading a book in bed tends to knock a lot of people right out ... as long as it's not too terribly interesting of course.
Good luck and get some rest.

I have mild insomnia. It actually helps, because I have more time to study.

Hot cocoa with a wee bit of Jack Daniels? Okay, warm Jack Daniels with a little bit of cocoa.
Drop the Jack Daniels and make it rum. The cocoa's important though - it gives you that warm milk (that has some chemical component that's good for sleep.
I'm an insomniac. This has never worked for me either - but at least I smile a lot when I'm not sleeping...

This message looks like me, except I have sons that keep me awake instead of daughters, and I have been doing this for about five months. I sleep for about 3 to 4 hours at night for one to one and a half weeks and then I crash and have one night of eight hours of sleep. I think my inability to sleep is caused by stress (I am always thinking about what I need to do when I should be sleeping).

Insomnia is no fun, I know. Take every opportunity you can during the day to rest. Insomnia often arises out of stress, so take a deep breath and relax.
You could also try sleeping pills, but I don't really think those are a good idea.

I'm scared of sleeping pills after I heard about people who drove while they were asleep after taking them.

What kind of an idiot would try to drive after taking sleeping pills?
But I agree that they're dangerous. They can keep you drowsy even after you wake up, and that's not a good thing.
