Cathy's Book: If Found Call 650-266-8233

Post by silvermoon »

Has anyone read this book? I just ordered it from Amazon. It's in the form of an ARG, but in book form (you start with the book and the message from the phone number in the title and work through the book's clues).

I'm just wondering if anyone has read it and what they think about it.

Oh, and I just got a $25 reward certificate from Amazon (I spend way too much money there... <sigh>) This may be something worth looking into... Is it a solo go or something a few of us could play with together for fun?

I read a lot about it about 3 months ago, and thought it'd be interesting.

I heard some negatives about product placement however.

i really recommend it.
to explain bout the book a little:

in the front cover theses like a clear plastic pocket with things in. this is the "evidence" cathy has gathered. like clues and stuff. its pretty fun to look at these while your reading and try to figure it all out!
all the phone numbers in the book are real. but rather than calling them and spending money you can go to a website address (on the back of the book) and listen to them online to hear voicemails and such.

Yeah, I read it. It's kinds sci-fi which isn't my thing, but otherwise, it's a great way to spend time. It usually takes me a month to read a book at a steady pace. I read this book in three days. It's interesting and creepy.

Here's the site you can go to to discuss the clues, but I warn you, they're are spoilers and there hasn't been a lot of activity lately. Possibly because of the talk of a sequel...

Is the name of the book just Cathy's Book, or Cathy's Book: If Found Call 650-266-8233? I want to see if my library has it...

The second one, but I hear the library doesn't provide the "evidence" bag, so it's not worth it. Plus, they're is a clue which, in order to find, you have to have a book of your own. Otherwise, you'd be fined for damaging a library book.
