How can Anyone think she said "Order of Denderah"!

Okay. There seems to be a lot of skepticism that she actually said "Order of Denderah." My Aim here is to make you a believer, or at the very least...a little more open to the idea.
(Someone has to prove we aren't crazy
)
The general criticism has been similar to the following:
1. When you watch the video, it sounds NOTHING like denderah. I mean DUDE, she obviously says "Gecko," "Jethro," or something like that!
2. Just because the tag says "Denderah" doesn't tell us anything! There are COUNTLESS tags that have nothing to do with the videos. If anything, that tag is there to confuse us.
I concede that Both of those things are true.
However:
1.
Yes, in full speed she does sound like she is saying "Gecko." But when Bree argues, she talks incredibly fast. and to add to this, Daniel is yelling OVER her when she says the phrase in question.
If you listen to a clip of their argument in slow-motion, the three syllables of the word "Denderah" become clearer. and you are better able to isolate what she says from what Daniel says.
You can download a clip of them in slow-mo here. (click on "free!")

2.
This tag is a little different from tags like "cephalopod" and "scimitar." When the video first hit youtube, the tag "Denderah" was NOT included. Approximately 30 minutes after the video was posted...the tag was added...as an afterthought.
There's reason to believe that the creators saw the confusion on the Forums about what she actually said, and, thus, posted the new tag.
of course, there's no proof that the creators had this in mind...but, you must admit, it's a very real possibility....given the strange lag
----
There you have it! That's what we are all thinking.

I don't know the pronunciation of Denderah, so that's where I am skeptical. In the slo-mo version I hear either Dendro (see dendrology - has something to do with trees) or Jenro (perhaps even "jendro")

Yeah, I agree. Even in slow motion, it still sounds like two syllables to me. I can make myself hear dendroh or something like that, which could be some odd pronunciation of denderah or her accent, but again, I'm hearing what I'm trying to hear. Still sounds sorta like gecko to me. Ah well...

I can't believe people think she said anything else than Denderah, but I guess it's somewhat subjective.
I still reckon the creators wouldn't have bothered to include the Denderah tag unless that was what she said. This whole story is still so open ended, and the speculation so varied that the idea of them trying to throw us of the track is hopelessly convoluted.
There's an easy way to solve this. All we need to do is enlist the help of people who don't watch the Lonelygirl15 videos, and get some of them to watch the video, and listen to the slowed down dialogue.
Remember, it's vital that you don't mention denderah, gecko, jethro or any of the other things people think she says before the neutral party listens, and tells you what they think.

I played the regular speed and slow versions for my roommates, and one said gecko and the other said decco. *shrugs*
We hear what we want to hear. No one said they heard anything quite like denderah before that tag was there.
I'll grant you that it makes sense and it fits, and so that's probably what it is. Then again, I'm holding out that the tag is to lead us astray! That's more fun.

I think she said Denderah
Before the tag was there and everyone thought she said Gecko, people found out that there is a real order of gecko and that maybe Bree was a part of it. This is a real organisation. the creators probably realised this upon reading this board and thought "sh*t! don't want to get in trouble with them, quick, write a tag pointing at what she really said!"

I didn't think she said gecko at first, but I did think it was 3 syllables. My first guess was it sounded like ple-ther-o.
After the slowing down of the audio, then I could finally hear the beginning was "d" and agreed it was Denderah. I can't hear a K sound in any of the versions except when she actually says "okay".

Actually, I was searching "dendrah" before I even came onto the discussion boards. I don't see how anyone can hear "gecko."

Perhaps the problem lies in the way we read things in our brains compared with how we hear and say things. Obviously, when we read "Denderah", our brain rationalizes that the word is pronounced dend-er-ah, but that's not necessarily how anyone would say the word out loud, especially if he or she were accustomed to saying the word casually. Completely disregarding that there ought to be some New Zealander undertones to Bree's accent, even any American would probably say something closer to Dend'rah after becoming familiar with the word. Think of the word "camera". I think few people actually say "cam-er-a"; rather, they say "cam'ra". This laziness of enunciation is the etymological cause of e's everywhere ultimately being omitted from the spelling of words after time.
Given that, I think it's quite reasonable that people would hear a two-syllable word.

I posted this in another thread as well. I think the reason most people are not hearing "Denderah" is because when you just see the word written, the initial inclination is to pronounce it "den-DAIR-uh" with the stress on the second syllable. The correct pronunciation is "DEN-de-ruh", with the stress on the first syllable, and a very weak second syllable (for pronunciation freaks: the proper vowel sound for the second syllable would be a "schwa", the upside-down e thingy). This is definitely what she's saying, in my opinion.

I didn't know what the heck she was saying initially, but when someone slowed it down and posted that link. I could see it being Denderah...

Personally I thaught she said Demio. which is a demonic god.

Allow me to solve the problem for you all. To me it sounded like she said "Order of Vendo". What I really think happened is that she said "Order of Dender OK" by mistake when the script read "Order of Denderah OK".
This is why they put the tag there, to correct the error by the actress.
