This is a tricky question. Right now Jules, Taylor, and Sarah are the only new girls considered canon. Usually, you know someone is canon when they are mentioned in a video.

meh anymore it's like, if you don't see them in an official LG video posted by BD&J or a comment from the creators officially saying something is canon... just figure it is non-canon. Because Nikki mentions the trio, bree has mentioned here several times but she is still non-canon as far as the creators say (though non-canon with insider info IMO). But that's just what I do anymore. Some of the fan fiction is really great, and personally I think would be ruined if it ever became canon.

I agree with you firmly--Nikki is not (and will likely never be) canon. However, her insider info is certainly canon, and she has become mildly important to the plot (despite her non-canon-ness).
